Has anyone experienced this or anything else strange with this recent firmware version?
I am having the same problem with a pair of IP8M-2496 cameras.
After a bit of google-ing I see several people with different models of cameras with the same problem.
In my case one camera is looking out a window, so it blinds itself.
The other is outside but there is an object near by that is reflecting enough to blind that camera as well.

The commonality so far has been the V2.820 firmware.
I just down graded on of my cameras to V2.800 firmware.
That appears to be working.

Currently using IP5M-T1179EW-28MM (It's actually the IP5M-T1179EB-28MM version, only difference is that the body is black) and I'm having the same issue. I've been able to get it to not auto revert back to 'Auto' by using the general setting, but the Day/Night option always switches back to 'Auto' once I close the browser window where I'm modifying the settings. I do want this setting to be off for every setting since I have a well enough lit area, and the IR camera completely destroys the footage.

Has anybody found the fix for this yet?

Firmware: Amcrest_IPC-HX25(8)XX-Molec_Eng_NP_AMCREST_V2.820.00AC000.0.R.220325.bin

Your  1179 firmware is dated 220325.
The current firmware is dated 220831.
You could try updating your firmware to see it fixes your problem.  Current firmware is at

I assume your well lit area at night is lit using white light and not external IR illuminators.
If so try this:

Set Profile management to Full Time Day.
In Configuration, set Day & Night to Day=Color, Night=Color.
Set IR Light to Day=Off, Night=Off.
Make sure everything is saved properly.

It really doesn't matter what IR Light is set to because when color is on, an IR filter is used not allowing any IR to reach image.

If that doesn't work, contact Amcrest support and ask them to send you firmware dated 2021-07-12.  That firmware works for me on my IP5M-T1179E using the above settings.
Send an email using

I was having this exact issue on my IP5M-T1179EW. But the latest firmware (released on 1/13/2023) has fixed the issue!
I would suggest seeing if there is an updated firmware available for your cameras.
Cheers! :)

I'm running a IP8M-VB2796E
Running firmware: V2.820.00AC002.0.R, Build Date: 2023-04-08

The Camera turns on the IR seemingly at random, mostly after logging out.
I finally disabled it by switching to color. But this leaves a dark picture. I have solid IR illumination and the picture is excellent when the IR light on the camera is off. But it keeps turning back on any time it's in BW mode, which is frustrating, as going back through the camera footage is now useless.

I did have some success on my IP8M-2496E-V2
The Firmware worked to allow me to set the camera to manual IR brightness, and bring the slider to the minimal value. The off might stick better , but I took the win I could, as sometimes the settings persist by dumb luck.

I'm called in on this a few times and eventually got to a point where I'm expecting a call back. (crossing fingers)
