I completely agree to all of the above aggravation, and include myself.. 5 different platforms and none of them work..
Every end user has to deal with browser end of life issues, and we do.. Why is this so difficult for Amcrest? You had 15 years to develop and code a browser plugin that wasn't obsolete.. We the end user, had one day and then nothing worked.
My gut feeling is that it's a, "Sell as many as you can and run like hell" approach. Unfortunate, but quite common in the tech gadget industry and I don't see any real effort on their end.
This needs to be addressed immediately as it renders almost their entire NVR product line absolutely useless for 80% of remote access users. (Not a lot of people use IE or Edge willingly..)
There is not much of a point in the unit anymore if things don't change quickly.. Can't use the unit from a phone app and already find myself shopping for a different unit.
This is really frustrating and and potentially an easy fix.
Get it done...................

Re: firefox and internet explorer plugins no longer working
Here's the odd thing. I've been on the latest firefox 52 with the webplugin working fine. It stopped working when I decided to clear my browser history. Since then, when I visit my public IP to view remotely, it asks to install the plugin. It seems to install with a quick flash of a box with no errors. The plugin is not triggered upon visiting the site like it should be so the "download plugin" message is displayed again. I'm actually on ESR right now and it still doesn't work. I've disabled the built popup blocker and added exceptions to my site and nothing works. My camera isn't quite a year old yet but I'd like a refund at this point since it no longer works as advertised.
Amcrest, we are waiting to hear from you on this. We would like our cameras working as they were advertised when we bought them. Where's a plugin that works for our cameras?
I've tried the google chrome app and it's horrible. You have to enter your url every time as there's no way to save it and the app produces a laggy unresponsive experience. The plugin worked fine with none of those symptoms.

Re: firefox and internet explorer plugins no longer working
The Firefox plugin was working for me from mid-January until last night (March 23). Now all I get is the blue upgrade page. The same thing happens in Chrome AND Microsoft Edge (I am on Windows 10.)
The only way I have been able to access my system (other than on a console which is impractical) is through the "SmartClient" which has its own quirks, and (thankfully) through the Android phone app.
Amcrest, I am very disappointed and have knocked my Amazon review from four stars down to two until you fix the browser plugin!

I would like to add another camera or two and this is a deal breaker.

Chrome and their webapp is a terrible solution. It was so bad I couldn't stand it so I've moved on to another browser called Pale Moon. It's built off firefox base and is open support, and it includes NPAPI support.
Still though, Amcrest should be responsible for providing modern support our browsers.

In my Windows 10, you can still access Internet Explorer, but you need to find it and activate it.
C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer
Then launch "iexplorer" application.
This did work for me, but the picture sizes are now not very proportional. But at least I can now view the cameras.....
I just upgraded from the 960h to the 1080p cameras.
I really wish it worked like it was a month ago.
