help with steps needed to get Email working

Post by andrew.mullins77 »

I have a LAN connection and have been able to setup remote and local access, but I have been unsuccessful in setting up my email. I have tried diffenent combinations of smtp and ports with no luck. Is there something I need to do under another section of Networking? Do I need to adjust my router? Whenever I enter the email and smtp and hit "test" it says mail test error.

There shouldn't be anything else you need to enable to get email working. Are you using the proper Encryption Type setting for your SMTP server? Are you using gmail or Yahoo or something else?

I have tried both gmail and yahoo mail, and used the proper encryption.

SMTP server: smtp.gmail.com PORT: 465 ssl
[email protected]

I'm using a wifi range extender which gives me a pretty good connection considering my wireless router is on the other side of my house, but could this be the problem? I wouldn't think this would be the issue.

I doubt that your wireless connection is the problem. Did you try using port 587 and TLS encryption with Gmail?

You may also have to enable "Less Secure Apps" in your gmail account. https://www.google.com/settings/security/lesssecureapps

Following....

Same issue here.
Tried different email accounts.... used the same settings that were on the individual cameras (and working on the cameras) but test failed on the NVR.... never enabled additional authentication in GMAIL.... tried both ports.... still nothing.

I too am stuck with no email notifications. I've tried all the appropriate Google settings for my gmail account, none makes a difference. When I get some time I'll call tech support and see if they can walk me through some different setting options.

It seems odd to me I can view my cameras locally and through quickddns.com as well as on my i devices with no problems. Why it can't send emails is puzzling.

Amcrest, how about a response or YouTube video on how to get this fundamental feature to work.

I was having the same email issue (and several others), then I tried configuring the NVR using Amcrest Surveillance Pro (ASP). That program allowed me to change things that neither the NVR directly or the web interface would allow me to configure. And without adjusting anything, when I submitted the same email info that I attempted to use in the NVR directly and the web interface into the program ASP... success. Could have been just a freak coincidence as I'm trying to set up multiple things simultaneously.... but worth a shot IMO.

Hello,

I apologize for the delay. I have heard of and seen these issues a few times and have had it happen once while testing in the office. I tried it a few more times, rebooted it, then tried it again and it worked. I'm not exactly sure what is causing this issue. I will get on our video production team to get this video up and running as well as some Knowledge Base article with some troubleshooting steps. Also, you can try creating a Gmail account to just send emails to your main account. I have seen that work before.
