IP2M-841 (White) Line In NOT WORKING

Post by alexmanny »

Hello Amcrest,

I just bought a Amcrest ProHD 1080P WiFi Wireless IP Security Camera - 1080P (1920TVL), IP2M-841 (White) and everything is working fine EXCEPT the "LINE-IN" Feature, when I try to plug in a Mic that I have and I select LineIn in Setup --> Audio --> Attribute --> Audio in Device -- LineIn it does not work.

I tried multiple Mics that I know works because I tried them all on my computer and they work but when I plug them in the camera, they dont work, can you tell me if there is something I'm missing that I need to do? Or is it defective so I should return it?

Thanks,
Please let me know.

Have you found a solution? I'm experiencing the same issue on the IP2M-841 using a microphone that works with my Foscam camera.

Should an external microphone that works well when it's 3.5mm connector is plugged in to the "Audio In" port on a Foscam 9821 and a Foscam 9831 also work with the Amcrest IP2M-841?

If so, I'll pursue a waranty exchange. That's what I'm experiencing with the "Audio In Device" set to "LineIn" on my IP2M-841.

Hello imccullen1,

Please try adjusting the MIC volume levels under the camera settings. As per the update we have, the MIC should be an external powered one.

Guys, the problem is that you're trying to plug microphones into a line-in jack. Not only does line-in fail to provide power to the microphone, it is expecting much larger signals than a microphone would produce. Line-in is meant to be plugged into a line-out or headphone jack on another device. I am using a homemade solution on one of my IP2M-841's, and it's working great--very clear and sensitive audio reception! Two kinds of devices will work as a microphone on a line-in jack:

A powered microphone (extremely low sound sensitivity; talk directly into the mic to hear it). Look for regular 3.5mm corded microphones that use a battery. Examples below:

An amplified microphone (adjustable sound sensitivity, some can even hear extremely faint sounds). Look for microphones (or devices with a microphone) that also have a headphone monitoring jack. Examples below:

I have the IP2M-858 IP camera. I've put a high level audio into the the camera, and set it for line-in. It still seems to be using the built in microphone. There is a volume level control for the microphone. Does that affect the line-in level or is it just for the internal microphone. I can't see that it controls the line-in level.

@dwforslund Hello and welcome to the forum...

As others have said on the camera you go to Setup, Camera, Audio, and under the 3rd box called Attribute Change Audio IN. I have a camera looking out my back window and a few others but since I moved the AD110 to the Front porch I moved my Mic from the front to the back camera and it works great... I did turn up the Mic and also turned off the Noise blocker.. I turn it back on when I mow the lawn so I am not mowing the mic... I last week moved my 821 from there and plugged in my 721ES seeing I don't need 1080 on that view and needed the 841 in another location it works great with the Mic as well even on it old fW that I guess won't have any updates even though the normal 721 has a new update grrr... oh well lol... Yes both of my Cameras can be controlled by the 0-100 volume of the mic...

I don't know if your using a Single Audio input or if your using a Stereo input but I am using mine with a Single Input 3.5mm Jack. I have to admit I do have to almost force them but it goes all the way in and works.. I wonder if people are having issues because one not changed over in the right place and or 2 using the wrong jack and or not making them go all the way in because I was almost afraid I would break it with my 721es because it is NEW and never had anything plugged in...

In the 858, there is no jack for audio. It is a set of wires (black and white) that need to be connected, mono only. It isn't clear if the microphone volume control affects the line-in level. There is no meter to tell you want the sound level is, which makes it hard to tell.

Awww yes sorry I didn't see your 858 as I just seen the title and your leading 8 when I read now that you mention it I see you did say 858 now... With that I am sure it is like some of my other cameras that offer that. I am not sure but the ones I have that offer the Mic Input don't have a Mic on it so for myside it is easy with knowing it works... However sadly if yours has a Mic built in and only the 2 wires for connection I would guess that if you move from Mic to Line In it should change over to the Control on the Line in... I have been meaning to buy the 858 just can't get my wife to let me she says I have to many PTZ cameras already.. I have a few in backup now I went and pulled them off my cabin.. I had 2 out there but there has been no need for them out there so I changed them out and now using some static camera have all the 4 corners covered with slight overlap..
Be Safe.
