One is metal construction, one is plastic. One allows web-based SD playback using a timeline, one makes you download chunks before you can view.
Have I missed a revision or two over the years?
I miss the 2499's that you could mount in a corner without a third of the frame seeing the walls on each side (4mm lens) and the green timeline bar in the web view was a must.

Need a compact turret camera, I would look at the 2779, geat camera for the price.. person detection camera that out shines a camera that cost more only thing the other that I own a few of is better sensor for low light captures.
About 2599, I mean it's V3 so different camera. Trying to keep the cost down I guess. I mean if you look at 841v3 while it's same look in truth it's a different camera then 841. Also if an issue maybe an update will fix.

The 2779 uses a white spotlight that I dont want, just IR .
I dont understand what you are saying with

So while the 2779 does have a white light yes. You don't need to use the white light as the camera is a dual light camera with IR as its main night time use.. Someone can enable the white light as the only night time led. But one thing that it can also do in areas that have low light but don't want others to say break into a remote located shed that camera can also flash the white LED as a way to deter someone by bringing the attention to them being recorded. Now it does have a Mic it don't have audio out for an alarm like a much higher priced camera I have from Amcrest, 2685EW-AI does..
About Person detection Face Detection I mean. For the cost of the camera it has great features that would normally be found in a higher priced camera.. So on face detection it can say age, expression if they have glasses or not beard or some other options. Where a camera that at the time I bought it a few years back offered them features but after a update and 2 no longer offers that just says there was a face detection and counts nothing about the person.. Really something for people that lets say you daughter said there was a man that was there with a beard that took your sons bike. You could search just for people with a beard.. So it is a way to weed past lets say 1000 images of people that went by your business *Just as an idea* and you wanted to find only people with beards.. Maybe there was only 10 now you have only 10 out of that 1000 to look over..
And it is metal construction as you wanted.. So is one of my favorite cameras now from Amcrest.. Could have bought 8 for the price I paid for the IP8M-MD180E-AI.. But it isn't a normal Ai camera either it has its use for the right person..
I was just trying to offer another camera that I find really good price for quality of build and options offered.. Again having the White led and not being used don't tax the cameras current needs..
