What I'm going to do is add in a control panel and mount it under my shelf:
I like the one that sits more flush with the under side of the shelf but the other you can customize the stickers...for like siren...lights etc
If I go with the one that has the usb, I could step down the P 's 12v+ to a usb 5v

These only take 3v and are fairly low amperage...I can use some of the rockers per room for silent alarm. One will go to an mp3 playback module "Warning you have breached a home security perimeter. Please leave the premises." Another will go to 1 and GND for the siren's panic button.

Ok can you do me a favor before you buy your things as your last post are saying you have made up your mind. I am not sure if the E1 offers it, I know that my E1 don't but seeing your system is closer to my other Amcrest NVR and I can't look at them seeing they are in a remote location. I knew I should have kept me POE 4216E-Ai NVR local, But in location right now that didn't have POE switch that was working for my POE+ cameras. Anyway does you NVR offer RS-485 support on the back? On my other 2 5232 and older 4216 they both have A/B for Rs-485 and wondering if yours does? If it does can you then go look at the Alarm page of the NVR GUI/WebUI and click on the ALarm in, Then click on Network on the top. Let me know if your page has more options then what mine in the picture below shows? Or maybe it won't until after the fact but at least let me know what your page looks like if you do infact have RS-485 support on your NVR..
Be Safe.

Curious about any functionality via network to the alarm output....
Dunno how useful it would be but I suppose if applicable I could write a shellscript attached to a desktop conky or panel and have buttons on it to trigger the alarm or shut if off....might be handy though if you were on pc and had a 2nd display hooked to NVR within view...
firewall siren!!!???
parental lock to prevent teenage son from viewing porn!!??

Re: NV4232E-16P-EI Alarm Block Pinout
Well I was asking because there is a Alarm switch block that could be used from Dahua on devices with RS485, Like if you look at the picture below, Not only does my 5232E-16p have the RS232 port on the right, On the block it self there is the A and B for the RS485 and when you connect that A and B to the Dahua ARB1606 you get 6 outputs and 16 alarm inputs that would translate into the Menu there and function just like it was part of the NVR it self.
Picture of my 5232, Now this is the older model not the E1 so anyone with the E1 that might be reading this I am not sure what is offered but seeing the 4216-E1 don't seem to have it and or the 4232E-16p-E1, don't seem to have it the RS-485 might have been removed from the E1 series. Kind of a share really..

Cool! I think I can do what I need though with just the one alarm output.
I did some more digging and others are recommending this relay and it's way cheaper!
Far as I can tell this should work and just as a safety measure protect my alarm relay.

Re: NV4232E-16P-EI Alarm Block Pinout
So there's no path between NO1 and C1 on the alarm block.
An event triggers the relay.
It closes the circuit providing 12v to the external relay.
The external relay now closes the circuit from 12v power supply's (-) GND to NO and
provides the necessary 12v to the load.
I may buy a spare just in case but I should be able to put some kapton tape around the led on the relay board and use a hot air / reflow gun and remove the led....tin the pads and solder a 5mm led to this and slap it into a small black project box.

Re: NV4232E-16P-EI Alarm Block Pinout
Using 12v barrel plug pigtails, you drill a hole centered at both sides of the project enclosure then insert the female into the hole from inside...to secure it in place plug a male connector through the plastic into it...and hot glue the female into place ...doing the same on both sides. You drill 2 tiny holes for your red wires out to NO1 and C1 on the NVR's Alarm block. You drill a 5mm hole into the enclosure lid and insert the relay board 5mm led into it snap it closed and label it. Make sure you tie a knot around the wires inside the box or enclosure before running the red wires out the holes for NO1 and C1. IF you have a sticker white label printer, you can even print out labels "NO1" and "C1" and wrap around the wires. This un-complicates things.
If you desired you could solder the 5mm led to wires and run the led to the load end and drill a hole at that side instead of into the lid.
