Accessing IP Cameras to make changes

Post by GeekyDaddy »

I have the Amcrest NV2108E-HS NVR, it has it's own switch in it to manage the devices connected to it.

So the NVR's IP is 192.168.5.220 (static)
While the NVR's switch is set to 192.168.8.1
I have two camera connected using DHCP, and they are assigned IP address: 192.168.8.128 & 192.168.8.129

From my computer which is connected to the main network 192.168.5.0/24 how do I access the cameras directly?

When the cameras where connected to the main network I was able to put in the IP address and this would bring up the internal web pages to administer the camera itself. But since connected to the NVR I cannot access the cameras directly anymore.

So in my browser if I put in the address http://192.168.8.128/ nothing happens.

Hello and welcome to the Forum.

While I don't want to say it can't be done. I want to say that it is going to be a little hard to make it so...

One if your connecting your Camera over the POE port it would seem doing so will make your NVR in since a Firewall as a way to protect what is behind your NVR...

One of the things about setup for your Cameras before connecting to your nvr is that you should set Cameras to a Static IP and thing of that nature because from the wording once connected to the NVR you can't access the Web Interface...

So then I wonder if you can connect the NVR and camera to the same Network (Router 192.168.5.128 and 129) in respect of your already setup IP and add the Cameras over the NVRs Eth0 port like you would a NVR or DVR without POE ports? If you can connect that way then you would still be able to access the WebUI on the camera.

However looking at the manual it seems once connected to POE NVR your not able to access the WebUI anymore...
Be Safe.

One way to use Web UI with a NVR attached camera is to attach a laptop(PC) to one of your NVR poe ports.

Go to web UI for the NVR, Image|Remote Device page use the browser link for each camera.
It will open http://NVR_IP:PORT where the PORT changes for each camera.

Example:
I have a PoE NVR with LAN IP 192.168.2.11.
Camera on port 1 of the NVR's PoE switch is http://192.168.2.11:10080
Camera on port 2 of the NVR's PoE switch is http://192.168.2.11:10081
