I have a IP3M-943W and would like to link it to my weather station on WU. Is this possible? Has any one done this? if so I would like to no how.
Thanks, Jason
Weather Undergroung and Amcrest
Re: Weather Undergroung and Amcrest
I'm looking to do this as well. First I was thinking I would use FTP but it is requiring an IP address instead of DNS name. Wunderground can only do DNS names as far as I know.
Then I thought that I would send the image via FTP to a directory on my server which is connected to Dropbox and use the URL from Dropbox. Haven't tried it yet but we'll see.
I would like to see the FTP name get changed.

Figured it out. I setup Amcrest to send a picture to WUnderground via FTP. Only issue is that Amcrest doesn't accept an URL for an FTP so you have to find the IP address for webcam.wunderground.com. That's pretty easy using PING but here it is just in case you need it. 54.148.11.142. Note that if your camera goes offline, check the IP address for the webcam before doing anything else. WUnderground can change it at any time.
It would be nice if Amcrest would update the software and allow URLs for FTP sites. Then we wouldn't have to worry about WUnderground changing them.

Skijackz,
I have the same camera as you and am having problems getting my camera to communicate with wunderground.I have found out the new ip address for wunderground webcams ftp site, put my username in (my webcam id wunderground assigned), and password. What settings did you use for the picture you are sending? Are you using the snapshot feature of the camera? If so, what quality are you using for the snapshot? Thanks a bunch!

Anyone out there on this subject? I think the snapshots are too big for wunderground. How do you get them down to 150k?

Re: Weather Undergroung and Amcrest
This is dependant on camera model. Change resolution in snapshot settings, then reduce quality number.

I have also tried this without success. However my IPM-722 and IPM-723 cameras do work on Wunderground.Yank61s wrote:I have a IP3M-943W and would like to link it to my weather station on WU. Is this possible? Has any one done this? if so I would like to no how.

Word of caution, I only set this up today and will require monitoring to check stability.
