Source code availability?

Postby jantman » Thu May 03, 2018 2:11 pm

I recently purchased two Amcrest IP cameras, an IP2M-841B and a IPM-723W. Given both the behavior of the device when it joined my network and some of the settings available in the user interface relating to video streaming and processing, I have reason to believe that the device is running the Linux kernel and the ffmpeg program. Both of these are licensed under the GNU General Public License (GPL) which requires that customers/users receive access to the complete source code. However, after looking through all paperwork that arrived in the packages, on the web interface itself, and on this site, I have been unable to find any mention of Open Source license compliance or source code downloads.

Is Amcrest in compliance with all relevant licenses? Is there some link I missed to retrieve the source code of any open source components?
