If you remove the Ring doorbell and install the AD410, I would think that it should power the device.

Amazon Echo Show (that may work) but you may need to tell Alexa to display it. I'm not sure it's automatic.

I'm guessing he/she meant that after removing the power source manually, inserting the microsd card, power it back on, he/she could not remotely turn on/off the device and thus ultimately returned it.

IMO, the router assigns the IP addresses. Scenario: if AD410 should happen to drop a connection and another device connects to the router and takes up the exact IP address, AD410 would be allocated a different IP address by the router.

You get that audible "notice" when the device successfully connects back to your network (because it lost connection). There is no setting anywhere to turn it OFF.
