Re: Mirai infection

I use the tinyCam app which doesn't use certs to connect via Https. Using certs ensures the server is who you think it is and prevents man in the middle attacks , and it also uses a better encryption. You have to install the public key cert you generated in your browser to avoid the warning. Not sur...

Re: Mirai infection

For my remote port forward access I use https on my 841 camera which should encrypt the password going over the wire. Change the password and reboot and see if the virus goes away, else reset to defaults and reload firmware.

Re: 841 snapshots per email on the latest 18.R firmware

Melvin, I tried 0 and 1 Intervals and get the 5 snapshots per email that is set in the Motion Event screen. They are time stamped 1 sec apart. But to get this to work you can't throttle the number of emails you receive other than with the Dither setting. Also the timestamp in the email body uses DD ...

841 snapshots per email on the latest 18.R firmware

I could never get more than 1 snapshot per email, and the interval and dither settings never seemed to limit how many emails I get. I had some time to kill today and did a reset to defaults and reconfigured from scratch, not importing the settings like I normally do. It still doesn't work. If this i...

Re: Recent ftp files deleted by IP2M-841 using new SW version 2.420.AC00.18.R (2017-05-21)

Thanks rogwk for updating your status, so ..... can Amcrest tell us if the import/export is version independent or do we have to continue reconfiguring from scratch on firmware updates, even if they don't fix the bugs they claim to?

Re: Recent ftp files deleted by IP2M-841 using new SW version 2.420.AC00.18.R (2017-05-21)

Being that all firmware updates seem to require a hard reset and that people restore their settings by importing them from a previous version and it seems to work, does the import/export function really work across versions, meaning is it stored in a version independent format?

Re: Loads of ARP Requests

The arp/ping option in the Network Settings is an obscure way to set the IP address. It is explained in the Help. Network devices uses ARP to map an IP addrress to a MAC address when trying to send a packet . The Camera couldn't communicate without ARP. Normally when ARP gets a response for an IP->M...

Re: Forum change request

How about they expend all their brain power on fixing the firmware bugs and worry about advanced forum search functionality later ;)

Re: Goodbye Amcrest

Melvin, I did a reset to defaults and imported back my config settings which I saved with the previous version When I did that all my settings were restored except a few in the Network section that I had to manually set. Everything seems to work except snapshots per email and email throttling. Thx
