amcrest2mqtt does the trick for me. With a little work, now when the doorbell is pressed my echo dots play a doorbell chime .

Perhaps you would be so kind as to share a picture of your setup? I have ordered the same transformer as you have recommended, and have it powering the doorbell.

I can however, not get the internal chime to work, I must be doing something wrong with the wiring!
