This is within the mp4 file and not when switching to the next mp4 file, correct? I'd throw the kitchen sink at it since it isn't normal behavior... if you are writing to an SD card, try replacing it. Reset to factory defaults and ensure latest firmware. I'd just try it with the integrated IR lights and leave them on all the time if it works well enough. Otherwise, add external lighting or more cameras. I've picked up Amcrest cameras as low as $20 refurbished so IR lights going bad years later isn't a major concern.
