Re: Accessing IP2M-842 UI without IE

This is a follow-up to yesterday's discussions for the benefit of anyone searching for help. I followed SalMAC's instructions to add all six of my IP2M-842's to Edge's "Use Internet Explorer Mode for this URL" list. Everything works as expected. I noticed, however, that URLs in the list &q...

SalAMC,
Thank you! That was just the kind of thing I was looking for.

Re: Accessing IP2M-842 UI without IE

Adding the IE app to Edge or Chrome would be great but I have no idea how to do that.

Accessing IP2M-842 UI without IE

I have 14 Amcrest cameras I use to monitor a condo association property. I have 6 IP2M-842's, 3 IP4M-1026's, and 5 IP8M-2496's. My main way of using them is a windows program I wrote myself to grab a snapshot every second from each camera. That has worked well for years. However, I recently had to m...

Re: Looking for a better choice for weather application

If you aim the new camera lower, the fisheye effect will be much less noticeable. (I realize you want to see more of the sky, but aiming it up is what makes the fisheye stand out.)

Re: Cannot Connect My Amcrest IP8M-T2499EB-28mm

I can't tell you what your problem is, but I can tell you what it's not. There is no such thing as a special POE Ethernet cable. POE uses normal cables. However, please try different cables. If one of yours happens to be bad - let's say one of the pairs isn't connected at both ends, it is possible i...

Re: IP8M-2496E shorted out during storm

Just to be clear, I assume you are talking about the Ethernet (RJ-45) connector on the cable a few inches from the camera. Was the weatherproof shield provided with the camera installed on that connector? I have 5 of these cameras and haven't had any problems. In one case, I was tempted to not insta...

Re: POE troubleshooting

You listed your camera as an Amcrest 866, but you didn't list the full model number. If it is 866e, then POE should work. If there is no e in the model number, it may not support POE at all. The fact that it came with an external power supply makes me think it is not a POE model.

Re: IP2M-841 not working using long power extension cord

I have an IP2M-842 that has the power line extended by 25 feet and it works fine. I used 18 gauge wire (from an old extension cord). Perhaps using the coax as well as your 22 ga. wire in parallel would work. Note that running cat5e will only help if you have a POE camera. Amcrest POE cameras have an...
