It depends on how complex you want to make it but I think you'll need a device in between the cam and one drive which could be a low powered RasPi for example. In the camera set up under Camera > Video > Audio ensure that the encode mode is set to AAC. Also if the camera is on wifi and is affected by low wifi signals, it can cause the issue.
