Re: Cameras Not Detected

I've had that problem with two NV4108E-HS's and Amcrest cameras, the cameras initially aren't recognised and then when left plugged in they suddenly started working OK. There was no clear pattern to it, I just fiddled with Edit -> enter password -> Save -> Connect for awhile, left things overnight, ...

jakthree wrote: Mon Feb 22, 2021 3:07 pm If fact, I have two NVRs. Both have v3.2 firmware (different release dates). Neither of them support h265. I think the v4.0 (HS) firmware is when h265 support begins.
I recently upgraded to 4.0 and can confirm it supports H.265.

Re: NV4116E-HS updated firmware

I finally bit the bullet after a major redo of the wiring for things, the new (4.x) firmware is great, it essentially turns your 4xxx NVR into a 5xxx NVR. The only thing to remember is to do a factory reset when you upgrade, don't try and retain the previous settings. Among some major gripes that ar...

Re: Confusing NVR model numbering

Again the NVR with 5xxx isn't just a On off switch it has the Power supply in the NVR when the 41xx has a 12v power supply and to be fair why would a NVR need a Power switch? So you can do a clean shutdown if you need to make any changes, there's a thread somewhere on here that goes into this. For ...

Re: Confusing NVR model numbering

I've got a friend who has the original Dahua-branded version of the 5xxx AFAIK, but that has at least the tripwire feature being advertised for the -AI series while the 5xxx doesn't seem to have it. It's not helped by the fact that the 5xxx manual is just the 4xxx manual with two extra pages added t...

Confusing NVR model numbering

I occasionally look at what Amcrest's latest offerings are, and man is the current lineup of NVRs confusing. Taking the 16-camera variant as an example, there's the original 4116 , then there's the 5216 with an identical-looking set of specs on the web page but the addition of controls including a p...

Re: NV4108E-HS available firmware

#1 biggest dislike that won't effect many is that there is now a way that the system can be turned off by Remote means This is a fix for a major flaw in the device, that there's no way to switch it off other than pulling the plug on it, which is a bad thing on a Linux system. There's no power switc...

Re: upgrading NV4108 to NV5216

Pure speculation here but if the NVR software just sees a /dev/sda1 formatted with ext3 then you might be able to shift it over. At worst you'll get an unrecognised file format error or similar, as long as it doesn't try and format the media if it sees something unrecognised you can give it a try.

Interesting, this thread reported problems with choppy video after the upgrade, which has made me hold off upgrading. So you've had no video issues?
