Re: Loud Fan
Well my DVR gave up the ghost after just over 2 years of use. Never was truly satisfied with this DVR. Paid $120 for a Dahua HDCVI HCVR, and put the old hard drive in it. The Amcrest units are all based on Dahua engineering anyway, so decided to go to the source. The Dahua unit seems to be more feat...

Try adding your system without using the QR code. I found that remote access has improved greatly.
Add the device with register mode of ip/domain for better results.

Re: Surveillance System Bake Off
The Amcrest system is one of 4 similarly priced systems that I've tried. Amcrest has edged out all of the competition.
I am done shopping for home surveillance systems. However, I am HIGHLY anticipating improvements.

Re: Surveillance System Bake Off
As promised, here are the results of my comparison of the Amcrest and "Brand B"... I installed the Brand B DVR and one camera and turned it on. Right away I had an issue Brand B not being compatible with my KVM solution (Lantronix Spider). It simply would not display via the KVM no matter ...

Yes. I did install the latest firmware available on the site. However, it included only minor changes and none of the motion fixes that I was hoping for.

Surveillance System Bake Off
I bought another DVR that is a well-known brand that offers better res cameras at a lower price. I noticed in the user manual that the new system appears to use almost exactly the same firmware. So I am planning a bit of a bake off to see which system (Amcrest or Brand B) performs better. My theory ...

Re: Loud Fan
Purchased the Noctua fan and installed it. Definitely quieter now. There is still a bit of noise from the CPU or board fan, but tolerable, especially since my DVR is hidden. Thanks to those who went before me and suggested this. eBay has 7 of these fans available as of this writing... http://www.eba...
