Re: max height installation of IP4M-1028EW
It depends on what you want to be able to see. The further the camera is from the subject, the less detail you will see. But, it has a wide angle lens, so it will cover a broad area. If you want to see faces, lower is better. High up will show more tops of heads. But it really depends on what you wa...

Re: Fast forward speed only 8X?
Mine only goes to 8X also. However, have you used the motion search feature with Surveillance Pro? There are some limitations, but, depending on how you have your system set up, you can search for motion in a specific area of the screen. Makes searching for events pretty fast. The limitations I've e...

Re: Too many email alerts with snapshots
Yes. And clouds, birds, squirrels, wasps, wind blown foliage, even pollen at night causing the IR light to reflect back into the camera and headlights crossing the motion detection area (at night). I've experienced all of these. However, I have not made adjustments to the sensitivity and threshold t...

Re: adding wireless camera to NV4108E
It's been a little while since I set mine up, but I think you should be able to get in with the IP address. If you don't know the current IP address, go to the browser setup page for the NVR and select Image, then Remote Device. Towards the top of the page, select Device Search. It should find your ...

Re: Loud Fan NV4108-HS
Thanks for posting the detailed report. Let us know how the fan(s) work out.
I also wonder just how much cooling is needed. Have you made any temperature measurements?

Re: Amcrest NVR
How has the remote access to the DVR been? Currently I am using the Amcrest Cloud for my outdoor bullet camera as I wish to be able to monitor my home while I am away. I have tried using the Amcrest View Pro software to connect directly to the camera. It does work but it seems a bit unfriendly as f...

Re: Amcrest NVR
Others will have to chime in specifically regarding the 4108, but my 4116, which I believe to be much the same as the 4108 except with more channels, seems to work fine. As I mentioned before, mine is not the "E" version, so there are no Ethernet ports. I use external POE switches. I don't...

Re: Amcrest NVR
I have both dome and bullet cameras. I feel they are very much the same as far as image quality and functionality. I use the dome cameras on my porches, where they are more easily reached. I feel they are a little more durable should someone try to smash them. The bullets are a little more vulnerabl...

Re: Playback timeline doesn't play where I click
Yes, I had the same problem on a couple of my cameras. DST was not checked and the time zone was wrong for those cameras. After fixing those issues, it was back to working normally.

Edit: Note that it did not fix the existing recordings, only subsequent recordings.

Re: Amcrest NVR
I would tend to agree with Z-Man. I've had the NV4116-HS (the version with no Ethernet ports, I use POE switches instead) since the first of the year and it's been a very reliable system. I have nine cameras, seven 4MP and two 3MP, recording 24/7 at max resolution. Having dedicated hardware (the NVR...
