I have a bug logging in to my cameras through the Milestone Xprotect software..
I have 2 IP8M-T2599EW-AI-V3 cameras and 6 IP8M-2496EW-V2 cameras.
I used the Amcrest app first and changed the default passwords on all cameras. Then, I tried to add them to XProtect and only the 6 V2's connected with the new password. It failed on the two AI-V3's. I decided to try the default password and it connected.
I go back to the Amcrest app and the password is still what I put for those cameras. I then tried to login through the web interface and it only accepts the new password. I changed the password to the new password in XProtect and it disconnects. But works again when I change it back to the default.
Anyone have any ideas on what's going on?

What ever you are trying to use as a Special Character, Maybe try something different. Only thing I can think of.. Not sure I understand what you mean by default password? The normal password setup for cameras would be admin and normally when you setup a camera it will never let you use admin as a password? So not sure I understand what you mean..
Next AVP2 and passwords if you change and need to update in the app you can delete the camera add it back using the correct password or you can bring up app, in the listing area click on the 3 dots, Then Device Details, then at the top is square with line going to top right click that next to the name of the device, Then down at the bottom click on Modify Device Password. Here you will put in old, then the new 2 times and save at the top. and save out

Re: weird bug logging in through Xprotect
By default password I mean admin.
Everything appears to work as it should in AVP android app.
I connected to all 8 cameras and set a new password and they all work.
I search for the cameras on Milestone XProtect with the password I set and it successfully adds the 6 V2 cameras but not the two AI-V3 cameras. I decided to set the password to admin instead and it connected to them.
Now I went back to AVP and even the web interface and it still works like it should and connects with the password I set for the AI-V3 cameras.
I just changed the password through the web interface to one of them to something different and XProtect software stayed connected to the camera the entire time, still using the default password admin.
The V2 cameras work exactly how they should but it really seems like Im connecting to the AI-V3s with default credentials even though I changed the password? And it's only through the Milestone XProtect software.
I might try a few different apps and try to connect to the camera in a few and see what happens I guess.
All the cameras are connected on a LAN network and the XProtect software I have installed on a server on the same network.

Re: weird bug logging in through Xprotect
Ok I just downloaded a random android app (It's called Onvier IP Camera Monitor) and it let me connect with the camera (over LAN) with the default credentials (admin - admin).
I now believe there might be a bug inside the firmware for this model camera.
Edit: I downloaded AVP2 and it won't let me connect with the default credentials, only with the new password I set..

Sounds like either your Camera has a feature that I didn't' know was still being used in current FW cameras or as you said it has a bug..
Could you provide a picture of your camears WebUI, Setup, System and Manage Users?

Re: weird bug logging in through Xprotect
So by Chance was Anonymous Login enabled by chance? If it wasn't please do a Factory Reset and see if the camera has the same issue after doing so? If it does then I would reach out to Amcrest Tech Support, I will pass it along and see if it can get into the hands of someone up the chain as this is not a great issue for sure.. Let me know what you find out so I know where to go from here..
Thank you

Re: weird bug logging in through Xprotect
No I dont think so. I tried to update the firmware through the web UI but it said no updates. But I just went to the firmware section of this website and I do think there is a firmware update.
The new version is:
V2.880.00AC002.0.R
10/24/24
I'm going to try to update the firmware and I'll report back.

Re: weird bug logging in through Xprotect
So I upgraded the firmware and it shows the new version but the problem persists. I'll try factory resetting one but I don't believe it will fix the problem. I'll contact Amcrest.
Edit: I factory reset the camera (with the new firmware) and changed the password but it still persists. I definitely think it's a bug. I sent Amcrest a message so hopefully they can figure it out
Thank you for the help!

Re: weird bug logging in through Xprotect
So I understand and pass on the info correctly.. You can change the password and access the camera on AVP2 with that password.. Yet you can access the camera using the default password the same time on your 3rd party software and ONVIFER?.. But not able to use the setup password on the 3rd party software without changing the password back to admin?
