Orion adding p2p off -sight camera help

Post by delirious »

when I add p2p cameras in orion via auto registration, I get a network exception. I have no problem adding them to the iphone app and the old surveillance station. I have p2p enabled on the three I need to add.

Manual says: "Auto Registration: We recommend this method when the IP address of a device might change. The
ID of auto register has to be in accordance with the registered ID configured on the device you want
to add. The port number must be the same on the platform and on the device. The auto register port
is 9500 on the platform by default. To change the auto register port number, open the configuration
tool to change the port number of AMCREST ORION_ARS service."

what does this mean, and what do I need to set if needed?

Anyone added p2p cameras that were in a different location from the orion application? I would like some steps. I can't get an answer from first line tech support at amcrest. A ticket was started but it was a canned response. Call again today and was told I would have to talk with the Houston amcrest tech support. Houston, we have a problem.

I put in two new cameras that are 4k and surveillance station was choppy. after upgrading to Orion, boy everything works at full resolution. 8-10 cameras. loving it.

Thanks for any help.

noone has added an off-sight camera? A little progress, you can add the IP address of your off-sight network and port forward the http port in the router. But I would like the Amcrest server to use serial number for this.

ok, thanks for all the input. Spoke with Houston Amcrest. Tier 1 was wrong. you can't use orion to connect with P2P or auto registration. You can use IP.

Steps.
1. get IP off of the out of network location
2. setup port forwarding rules on the router at the other location for ports corresponding to the HTTP UDP and TCP port on the amcrest camera. I assigned mine 8080. If I have two or more cameras, 8080, 8081, etc. just make sure each camera has it's own unique port number.
3. at home, do an IP camera setup and put in 8080 as the port. Login in, then Password. Should work.

could if saved time if tier 1 support hadn't given me improper information.

just remember that if you change the HTTP port from 80 to something else, you will need to add the port when using a web log in. Ie.192.168.1.xx:80xx
