use other ip camera software with dvr?

Post by acem77 »

I would like to use my software VisionGS to grab stills from one channel on my sec dvr.
Right now i use hardware capture device and an analog srandard def camera.
shown here on my lake cam site.
http://www.greatlakesvista.com/

I was hoping to use one of my security cams on the lake and up load a 720p images that would be sheduled and managed by VisionGS.

VisionGS supports both hardware capture devices and ip cameras, when setting up ip cams i can enter the ip, port and channel.
there are some built in selection for older models of cameras and dvrs. i did get this software to work with a dlink ip cam.

Is there a back end standard for the this type of setup? so far none of the other dvr options are working.
rtsp seems to be the only option as i have that working with andriod software.

if there is any chance what port wold i need to enter,
TCP
UDP
HTTP
HTTPS
RTSP

Thanks
Zach

Hello,

I went ahead and downloaded Vision GS to see if I could add this myself. Unfortunately I was not able to get it to work either. I don't see why it wouldn't work though. I have sent a request to the developer to add support for our systems as well as if there is a way to set it up. I will update you as soon as I get it working.

I do know that Blue Iris works with our DVR as we are running the cameras on our live demo page with this.

I have attached a picture to illustrate the fields that need to be changed.
Amcrest DVR-NVR Blue Iris setup.png
Amcrest DVR-NVR Blue Iris setup.png (29.37 KiB) Viewed 4194 times
  • 1. IP of the DVR (Best if the DVR has a static IP address)
    2. HTTP Port you set (Default is 80)
    3. RTSP Port (This will likely be the default 554)
    4. Username and Password to login to the DVR
    5. Select the Make/model as the same one shown in the picture (This is for a generic RTSP device)
    6. For Path put in /cam/realmonitor?channel=#&subtype=% (# is what channel you want to view and % is main stream 0, or sub stream 1)
These are the settings I'm currently using with no issues on our setup.
