Upgraded firmware 2.00 to 4.00 Lost all old axis cameras

Post by Patmo42 »

I have a Amcrest 4116-hs and i just upgraded the firmware to the latest version and I can not get any of the older axis cameras to connect. It says on the screen invalid user id or password and I have double & triple checked the onvif profile. Any suggestions please. I do have 2 new 4mp & 4K cameras and they connect fine. Thanks

Sadly it is hard to say what and Why... I am going to guess that it might have something to do with the Type of connection the Axis use over the Onvif of the device.. I know before I got rid of my Axis cameras there was some changes I needed to make to get my Axis to connect and it had something to do with Encoding and the Type of connection.. So while your saying the NVR says it is a Password Conflict I would look outside that Password...

Sadly you might have to ask Axis how to make it connect.. With the new FW it might be that they no longer can? I am not sure and because they are not Amcrest Cameras Support staff may not have any info about that camera seeing they don't sale them and the tech isn't something that Amcrest cameras use...

Again Sadly, I feel you are very correct. At least good cameras are not that expensive any more. The axis cameras I am using are p3364lve’s and were normally $900 cameras. Do the Amcrest 4K cameras work good? They are only $110. I have 5 more cameras to replace.

I am not sure I used to own the 3364VE I am not sure about the LVE? I know that my cameras worked with my NVR however I had some issues with Axis so I got rid of the whole lot of the ones I had

I am wondering if maybe the issue is with the NEW FW I would maybe try changing to VBR as most times the options are CBR and VBR for the encoding however for the Axis at H264 you want to make sure that it is setup for VBR other then that if it is like mine they should or could be I should say 960p camera with Pan and Tilt and option of 6mm or 12mm lens that I ran at 720p in Corridor mode..

I would maybe try and do a Reset of the Camera.. Then Remember that the Camera IP is different the other brands if memory serves me correct it was like 192.168.0.80 or might have been 90.. However if your system is working on DHCP then your router should setup the IP for the camera.. Then Remember for the camera of Axis the user is root and after you reset you will have to setup a password on first logging into the camera.. At this point before you setup your root password if I remember right you can click the HTTPS and it will make you a CERT that is good for a year and you can setup your password over HTTPS if you have others that are on your network that you worry might be trying to gain access to your cameras...

Seeing it was only about 4 months ago that I offed all my Axis I had to reset all my cameras back to factory so the new owner wouldn't get personal info about my network..

IF you don't remember how to do that.. Press and HOld the Control button and plug in the camera and hold the button for 15 to 40 seconds the light should start to flash amber oddly had one that was yellow so amber or yellow, Then let go of tbe button and after the light turns green it is reset and the ip is as said before but can't remember if it is 80 or 90 but it is one of them lol..

However if you still have the management tools you can set the password, and Ip over the config tool as well. So that is an option as well... Also I would try and set a Easy Password for testing to see if the issue with your NVR now is not a Password issue? IT wold stink if it came down to only being a Password conflict do to different system types...

Just some idea and help I had some older Axis that wasn't so easy for setting up to the nvr's while I could it was just a lot of work lol So for me I am happy I no longer have mine and yeah Axis camera are costly I paid if I remember right somewhere around 360 or so for mine back in 2014 or 15... Got a Discount at the time because of bulk buying

Oh about the 4K cameras I would maybe look at a few different cameras and to the axis most of the ones will be an updated picture.. 4K only thing that I don't like much about the 4k is low light is a PITA to get going well. I would look at some 4mp or 5mp cameras and they did just come out with a AI camera that has some awesome features one is Color at night and for the cost of an Axis you could buy 3 of the Color at night camera from amcrest if you paid 900 for your axis..

For my I have right now only 1 4k camera and while it is also an older First release model there are people that are still saying the same thing about new 2019 and 2020 4k cameras and that is Low light at night is not so great .. At least for me I have motion blur and if I drop it down to 1080p mode then it works perfect but then why didn't I just buy a 1080P camera ? Seeing on my camera it is a 12mp camera and options is 12mp 8mp 1080p and 720p on encoding there are much better cameras out there from Amcrest that are 4k with more encoding options that is just the ones mine has... So the 4mp camera with AI at 200 ish is a good deal and had a good low light sensor and lens..
