Hi
Just received my new Amcrest NV4108 with 8 POE ports. I have 4 cameras that I thought were POE because with my old system I had to use an external POE switch.
#1 - I can't find a setup video for this NVR. So I just went through the screens thinking it would just set up. It didn't. I have nothing.
#2 - I can't see any cameras on the screen nor does the NVR find any.
Please help. Thanks!
NVR NV4108E set up
Re: NVR NV4108E set up
Hello and Welcome to the Forum...
Sorry to hear you having some issues with your system setup... Is your old system Amcrest?
So there are a lot of different things when setting up your system...
One, Your cameras are they connected with 2 wires or only the Cat5 wire?
Two, did you set your cameras to DHCP before connecting to your new NVR?
Three, If you connect 2 cables to your Cameras (IE: Cat5 and a Power wire) I would connect to your cameras over your computer and make changes to reflect your new NVR network ip range.
Again there are many other things that are at play as well. Seeing that Safety is important I would maybe reach out to the Support staff and see if they can help you get your system up and running. They would be able to contact your direct and give better info about the system then we could pass back and forth info trying to help figure this out...

Re: NVR NV4108E set up
Thanks a lot. I will call them.
As to the things you said. #1 - The cameras are connected only with the Cat5 wire. #2 - To my knowledge there is no DHCP setting on the cameras. #3 - I also bought an Amcrest camera UltraHD 4K (8MP) Outdoor Security POE IP IP8M-2493EW and it won't even work with the set-up app installed on my phone. It comes up with a note "problem adding camera."

Re: NVR NV4108E set up
It is very hard to say what the problem is. I know that setup of IP Cameras at times can seem hard. One of the Reasons I prefer DVRs to be honest. While I understand you already had Ip cameras so understand the NVR buy...
So my questions are only related to trying to understand what you have to try and help with the issue. Also my idea to contact support was because they can get more info faster then I or others could over the Forum... About your new camera.... I think I might be able to help get it up and running...
First for this there are a couple of things you could do. First if you have your POE Switch and if it is able to power your new camera, i would use that to set up the camera to start with... If you haven't DL the Amcrest View Pro app on your Smart Phone, Plug your camera into your POE Switch, if you don't have a POE switch right now then use the Power port on the Camera and Plug the Eth0 cable into your Router. Make sure your Phone and Router are on the same network. Click on the AVP app and click the + button. Then click on Add device, Then pick the PoE Camera, then for ease of setup click the P2P setup. May say P2P Connection depending on what device your using to setup with. Scan the QR code on the bottom of the camera, Or Click the Type in Serial number and if you need to type it in the do so... Press next. On the next screen it will ask you to put in a name for the camera, and admin user and admin for password by default. Then click the Start Live view. Once you log in it will prompt you to change the Password from a 8 to 30 characters. After doing so your New camera should be setup...
Once your camera is setup then i would connect it to your NVR and see if it can find it when you click to add camera. It may take a few seconds. if it can't find it double check that the IP address of the NVR has been setup. I would pick the DHCP and then reboot if it needs to be setup, Then I would go back and double check that it found a IP address that is on your network. (Ie if your network address is 10.0.0.1 to 254 and your NVR is coming up with a 192.168.x.x then it wasn't setup over DHCP and will need to be setup with a good IP..) Once the IP is set to your network then you can take the DHCP setting to off...
Also another tool you can use if your don't want to look in your Router is the Amcrest Ip Config. This will help find your cameras IP for you. I most times just use my Router and look at the Connected items to find my Cameras when setting them up main reason is because before anything can access my network I have to give it permission anyway.
Hope you found this helpful and was able toget your new IP8M setup and running
