My router died a few days ago so I had to get new one. I have the new router setup and all of my computers, printer and mobile devices are connecting to the new router just fine. But for some reason the NVR is not connecting to the new router. I can't see any of the cameras in live view or on my mobile device. I can see all cameras just fine over the HDMI cable, just not on the web interface.
The new router sees the NVR as a connected device and the IP address and MAC address match what is in the NVR settings. But when I go into the NVR configuration, it says it's offline (can not find network host).
I have rebooted the router, modem, computer and NVR multiple times. How can I fix this?
NVR not connecting to new router
Re: NVR not connecting to new router
So I am going to guess that you are working with a POE NVR? Cameras are connected over POE? and you are not able to connect from your local browser, and or the App? But you can see the cameras in the NVRs GUI?
Can you confirm that your network is in fact setup correctly.. What is the IP of the NVR, Subnet and Default Gateway setting for the NVR?
If all the items are correct and you were to bring up the Command Prompt, and ping the NVRs IP address does it return any or does it have 100% loss?

Re: NVR not connecting to new router
Correct, NV4108E-HS with 8 POE cameras. I can see all 8 cameras in the NVR GUI. I cannot connect to NVR from local browser or mobile app.
Network is setup correctly. All other devices (4 computers, network printer, cell phones, ipads) are all connecting to the router with no issues.
I have the network printer, NVR and a 8 port switch connected directly to the router. All other wired devices are connected to the 8 port switch.
The router sees the NVR as a connected device at IP address 10.0.0.15
Amcrest IP config tool shows the NVR:
IP address 10.0.0.15
subnet mask 255.255.255.0
gateway 10.0.0.1
when I ping the IP address 10.0.0.15 I get 100% loss

Re: NVR not connecting to new router
It sounds like the NVR needs to be Repaired? I say this because I have in the past a 2108E-HS that was working with no issue and then one day 4 of the 8 cameras went offline and I tried to connect to the NVRs WebUI as I could see the NVR on the GUI over HDMI on the monitor. However when I tried to make connection to the NVR over the IP I know it was on and had been on for years. I was not able to access the NVR. Removing the top and doing some testing I found that the power supply for the Ethernet Port was not showing any voltage. At first I thought it might have been an issue with the Ethernet chip, after more testing I was sure the issue was the power circuit for the Ethernet was the issue. After replacing the offending part the NVR was back up and working again.. I was able to use Amcrest IP tools to find the NVR I was not able to connect to it. Only cameras that would work was the ones connected to the POE Switch of the NVR.
This sounds like the same issue that you are working with on your NVR..

Re: NVR not connecting to new router
Well, if it truly is in need of repair, I'll probably just buy a new one. The 2108E-HS looks like it would fit the bill. I'll just transfer my existing HDD to the new NVR. I suppose it could have gotten a spike or something since my router suddenly died also.
But I may try deleting the NVR from the system and start from scratch before I buy a new one.

Re: NVR not connecting to new router
Well with a Spike or some other EMI issue might have damaged a few different things. Protection diode, "TVS diode", Ethernet chip might have blown, Sometimes it gets past and may have damaged the data chip itself and not related to the power supply of the chip.. If you were able to access it 4 out of 20 tries then I would guess that it is an issue with the Ethernet Transformer.
So sounds like Diode or the chip it self.
Might be able to find a REFB 4108E-HS on Amcrest website if they have any in stock.. Not sure anyone can get a 2108E-HS new anymore.. I have not seen any offered as a Referb either..

Re: NVR not connecting to new router
Yea, I didn't notice the 2108 was out of stock when I looked.
Re: NVR not connecting to new router
So I dug in and watched a couple of videos and I got this fixed. All I had to do was go into the NVR network settings, edit the ethernet card settings and change it to DHCP. This forces the NVR to search for the router and do a "handshake" and request new IP address. All is good now!!!!
Re: NVR not connecting to new router
Awesome to hear that it was Network issue. So was it not on your network? I mean when I asked and you replied that it was configured right in the NVR, My guess was at that point that you know what IP range you were to be on within your network, I mean I use for my main Router the 10.0.0.xx and all my cameras connected to local network is in that range same with my DVR/NVRs, So when I happen to move one of my systems from different location to my home I Know that I need to change to my home network IP for my devices to work.
I guess I should have asked what your computer IP was and could have cured this problem early on..
Thanks for the update so others might try the DHCP trick if they have issues like yours..

Re: NVR not connecting to new router
Well, it was setup correct as far as I knew. Unfortunately, I'm not a networking expert. But watching the videos showed me what I needed to do. Thanks for your help!
