NV5216e

Post by additude »

I have a new second NV5216e out of the box that the front panel On/Off switch does not function. Even holding the pressure switch for over 5 seconds, the unit will not power on or off.
The rear rocker switch acts as the main power switch.
I have updated firmware and no change.
Like I said, this is the second one that has these same symptoms of no front panel on/off function.

Just to clarify what's happening, you are switching power on to the NVR using the main switch at the rear and once that is in the on position, the on/off switch on the front has no effect. Is that correct?

Yes, that is correct. I'm an Electronics Engineer / Technician and it truly puzzles me to have two units in a row that do not engage the on/off front panel switch properly. I checked the plugin cables, the flat cable and all look secure. I didn't reseat any of the cables.
Thanks.

Ah.. OK I just wanted to get the possibilty out of the way that you hadn't first switched the power on. I assume the rear switch isolates the system and the one on the front is meant to be used only when the rear one is in the on position.

Since you've been able to update the firmware, the unit must be powered up and running. When you put a HDD in, did you look/notice any obvious discrepancy in the way that front switch is wired?

My NVR is not Amcrest and I don't have any direct experience of the model in question but it sounds to me like you need to think about another return. Sorry I can't come up with anything more useful.
