NV4232E-16P-EI Supports up to 2 x 16TB HDD Problem

Post by jesse1255 »

i bought a NVR from amazon month ago with 2 x Seagate Skyhawk AI 16TB Video Internal Hard Drive HDD – 3.5 Inch SATA 6Gb/s 256MB Cache for DVR NVR Security Camera System , i try to install the HDD but it can not find the disk, i search up the amcrest website it says the HDD needs to format to 32FAT but i can not format it when i connect to windows 10 PC because this HDD is Surveillance HDD , so now i was stuck on this installation can some one suggestion that this is really support 2 x 16TB HDD or its 2 x 8TB total 16TB this is so confusing....

Hello and welcome to the forum,

Sorry to hear about the issues. Kind of some mess on the Web about what is what.. On the page says 1 port upto 16tb. On the Statistics page it says it has 2 ports and upto 16tb per port. So 16tb is going to be good. Main issue is that at times HDD are had to find unless they are formatted Fat32. I don't understand why a Skyhawk HDD wouldn't already be setup to go into a DVR/NVR out of the box already seeing that is what they were built for.. I do know someone that had a different system that supports 20tb and after installing the HDD in his recorder it was DOA. He tried to access on his Win10 and I tried to access it on a Win10 and Win11 both failed. Returned and bought 18tb WD Purple and was found and able to format with his NVR. Yes it cost little more but he seem to be happy with it and I have a mix in my machines but I personally prefer WD over Seagate..
Be Safe.

Thank you so much for your reply, so it can run 16TB single port or 2 port total of 16TB like two 8TB HDD ,, i try DL the seagate DiskWizard to patrician but no luck... like you mention i better just sell these seagate hdd on flee bay and install the WD purple for less trouble.... thanks again for trying to solve my issue, best regard
