Hate to mention that the issue with HDD isn't always if it will detect or Format it, The issue is that Amcrest R&D has done testing with different HDD formats and found that the ones they post is the best for the device. If you happen to go outside of that you can have issue. Maybe won't playback or maybe crash before it was designed.. Best to keep what the Max Amcrest says it supports.
