I installed a NV4108E-HS and two IP8M-2499 cameras a couple of days ago and everything seems ok so far but do have a couple of questions.
I have the NVR setup to record 24/7 and motion alerts. There's an option to pre-record up to 30 secs before the motion starts but no mater what number I set it up for the playback recordings always start out right as the motion happened. The only way I have found to make it work is to turn off continuous recording and only do motion. Is there way to have both continuous recording and and be able to use the pre-record?
Second thing is the view pro app. I have the push notifications for motion detect on both cameras and Push Type option set for video. When I get an alert and tap the notification on my phone, it opens the app and does nothing. If I go to the push notifications Event List the alert is there but when I replay the event it plays but there's a 30 second pre-record clip before the motion starts. It seems like the should way I have the push notification setup is when there is motion it pushes the alert to my phone, I tap the notification on my phone and the clip should open in the app replaying the motion clip with whatever pre-record number I have set it at.
I've talked with tech support three times and they couldn't figure it out and I'm supposed to receive a call from Houston.
I do apologize for the long winded post but I've spent many hours trying to learn how to operate this stuff lol
NV4108E-HS Pre-record question
Re: NV4108E-HS Pre-record question
Sadly Pre-Record is for Motion and while you have your system setup for Full time recording the thing is if the system shows something you just have to play back the Regular clip before it and is showing what is going on in the clip as a time stamp kind of thing for your more viewing pleasure... Non of my System work with Full and motion and get anything other then just about as it happens...
So while I am not sure about the Push I would say maybe try clicking on the Image option for getting pictures That is how I have mine setup for some reason I don't get a Picture I get a 1 min clip sent and that is fine for me to be honest.. Again I use them as a Time Stamp and if I need to refer back to the recordings when I get home or back to the normal monitor.. If it is important I clip and save to a Thumb Drive...
I have had some issues where I wasn't getting anything but dead space no matter the settings.. Found out after changing out my Network cables from my Switch to my router that took care of that issue.. I found that because my Switch is managed and I could see there was errors on the port.. Swap port and still errors only left the cable as problem got new cable and no more errors and I am not getting 95% of my push and Emails.

Re: NV4108E-HS Pre-record question
Yeah that's the way it is now when I chose Video for the push event it's a one min clip. But playing the event back from the NVR itself starts right when the motion occurs.
I did kinda figured out the Push issue. When the alert is pushed to my iPhone and you tap on the alert when the phones screen is locked, it will open the View Pro app but it does nothing. But when I get a alert, unlock the phone then swipe down to see the alert notification tap it it will open View pro and start playing the one min clip.
So I have the NVR setup with P2P. When I'm in my network where does these clips play from? From the NVR thru the router and streamed to my phone over wifi? And when I'm not in my network using cell data it's steaming from Amcrests severs? If so those clips or Live views are being uploaded to servers then streamed over cell data?

Re: NV4108E-HS Pre-record question
in or out of your network your going over P2P there is no server holding your data unless you get the Cloud then it would be over that.. When you have P2P setup your phone goes out to the Server only to tell the Server Hello I am here is there a Camera with your SN waiting for me? The Server says yes or no if yes then it hands off the connection to your phone and camera there is nothing in the middle besides the server that is listening for your Ping

Re: NV4108E-HS Pre-record question
Ok that makes sense. More times than not I get Login timed out when playing back a clip from my phone. What could be the issue? I have restarted every component in the mix and noting seems to help.
Re: NV4108E-HS Pre-record question
I would try and change the Type of Playback and Preview that you have it set to on your phone.. It might be that your network cables need to be updated to a new True Cat 5e or 6a cable.. Watchout for CCA.. But if you don't have good cables that can make it so your device won't want to work well over the network via Lan or WAN... So keep that in mind as well..
However in the Mean time I would try to bring up your Phone App, Then on the top left click the 3 lines with 3 dots, Then click on the NVR, then press the Pencil then Live view change form Main to Extra on both Live View and Playback Then click on the Start Live View it will save it as that mode... And you should be up and playing if not then you need to check your network cables

Re: NV4108E-HS Pre-record question
I'm not sure about the cables but their not high end I don't think. They're ONN brand 50' I think I bought them at Walmart awhile ago so that may be part of the issue. Is there a way to tell if they're CCA?
I found the settings from your screenshot. I have all the options but "Playback"

Re: NV4108E-HS Pre-record question
Well if you bought from from Walmart and they say they are UL listed and EIA and or TIA listed then they should be true cables... If they are Cat6 it could be hard to tell to be honest.. however if they are Cat5 or 5e then the one sure way is the put the cable between your thumb in index finger and if you can make the cable flat then they are fake cables that are not twisted and could be worse yet not even CCA but cables without Copper in them at all.. Cat6 isn't able to really test this way because cat6 is to have a Center Core that keeps all the pairs to them self and the core is most times a hard plastic or hard core so it would be hard to tell.. I have some cables that I cut open to show what it should look like for good cables and what a bad cable looks like...

About not having playback do you have a HDD in your NVR? It is odd that the Playback Option isn't there

Re: NV4108E-HS Pre-record question
The cable is twisted inside the outside casing so hopefully they will work if not I'll buy some better quality cables.
The NVR came with a 1TB drive in it so I'm not really sure why I don't have that option in the settings.
I did maybe find something about the time outs in the View Pro app. I have Adguard installed on my iPhone which does system wide blocking. I disabled Adguard and after many tests of triggering motion and replaying the events, every Event replayed as it should. No errors of any kind and Live playback is more quick to load. I'm not sure if you're familiar with the app but do you think it's doing some kind of "filtering" and causing the timeout issues?
I sent the logs from the app and explained what is going on to the developer.
It may not have anything to do with it but it did seem to help with the Adguard app off. And like I said I'm learning all this stuff as I go along so what do I know lol

Re: NV4108E-HS Pre-record question
It could.. Alll I know is that I have my system connected to Wifi and I have it setup on Main for playback because of the heavy traffic I have on my Router going out When I am outside my Network I need to change my View and playback to Extra or it will time out... On my Iphone as well. Sadly I don't have Service on my old iPhone 6 anymore as I upgraded to a Samsung S9 and still tossing up if I am going S20 or iPhone 11 as I have been trying to figure out what one I want more...
I do know that and I don't remember where now however there was an option for the iPhone that I needed to turn off to make it work before when that phone did have service it has been so long now I can't remember what it was.. had something to do with Networking in the phone or blocking so it might have been ad guard as I don't remember right now
