Motion Detection Emails Stopped working
Motion Detection Emails Stopped working
I have a NV1104 NVR that has been working for the last two years with some POE IP Cameras. I had set up motion detection alerts to go to a sbcglobal.net account and while I received way to many messages, but it was still working. I realized I had not seen an email for these settings since July 20th of this year this weekend. I was able to get the Test Mail to work yesterday when I changed to a Gmail account using an application password generated in the Security section of my Gmail account and 465 with SSL selected. While I was happy with that progress, I cannot for the life of me get Motion Detection emails to send. I have Enable, Snapshot, and Send Email checked on the EVENT - DETECT - MotionDetect section of the NVR. Losing my mind. Can anyone assist?
Re: Motion Detection Emails Stopped working
Kind of a frustrating skill to learn it seems. I set the Sensitivity to 100 and the Threshold to 0 on a small area. I was then able to have an email alert generated.
This leads me to a couple of questions - Is there a best practice for determining the best way to set these settings? I have a 90 Sensitivity and 10 Threshold set. You would think these would generate an alert on my front porch. I have another area that seems to generate a lot of false positives ( headlights from a car) set to 50/50.
Another question - I have two cameras with a third on the way. I assume the email will be generated correctly once I set the Sensitivity and Threshold's correctly, but is there anyway to have the email tell me where the alert is being generated? Right now it will only send a single email when an alert is triggered from either camera (assuming I fix the settings )
Final question - with a NVR, I cannot seem to get the Test Mail to work when set on the camera itslef with the same settings (i.e. - application password). If I could get these email alerts to work, that would probably help with the question I just asked.

Re: Motion Detection Emails Stopped working
If the camera is connected directly to the nvr you won't be able to configure smtp. You'll need to configure smtp and motion detection on the NVR. You can configure snapshot notification, it will send an image showing you where it's coming from.
Re: Motion Detection Emails Stopped working
I created a secure key for my SBCGLOBAL (AT&T) account and then mail test on the older camera worked.
