You're welcome. Can't believe it's been six years since I did this, and the NVR with fan mod is still going strong. So for anyone who's wondering "will this last OK"...

@plusfour Thank you for the Noctua fan hack and posting it here for everyone to see. I had the same fan noise issue pop up in my NVR and was able to easily do a swap and fix it within 5 minutes. I did not cut the fan grill as it works fine with it installed, but I did what @Kampatel61 said - just drill out the mounting holes on the frame using a 3/16 bit (5 mm) and used two of the self tapping screws that came with the Noctua. It did require a little bit of extra force to get it in, but holds the fan firmly. I simply clipped off keying lug on the fan connector on the board as I don't anticipate I would need to swap the fan any time soon, and the Noctua's fan connector plugged right on it and powered up just fine.
