how to recover 'missing' Cameras

Post by tferrari »

Hi

I have an amcrest 32ch NVR

I previously had problems with 4 cameras going missing off my network of 22 cameras.

Fortunately I checked my router (using gateway 192.168.1.1) and saw 4 extra amcrest cameras that were showing on my nvr. I wrote down all the IP addresses (192.168.1.xx)from the router, compared them with the ones on the NVR. I added the 4 addresses that were not on the NVR and all the 4 cameras came back immediately

Now I have a bigger headache

I have 2 missing cameras that are not on my wifi router network but are on 10/1000 PPPOE hubs. Their usual addresss are 10.1.1.130, or 1.1.1.129 etc

I know the gateway my ppoe hubs use through my router is 192.168.1.113 but I cannot figure how how to search and identify all the cameras on the 10.1.1.1 network. I cannot even find windows software to help me locate these devices

If I can find the missing ip connected to the 10.1.1.1 network, then I think I should be able to manually add them to the NVR.

Would be super grateful for any suggestions.

Sound like you have a couple of problems, first one sounds like you are using a pass around cable from router port to your NVRs Switch ports, this can't happen without issues.

First 10.1.1.xx normally starting with 65 is NVR switch. Should not have access to your normal network router/switches. Next need ip camera tools, best to use Dahua version a lot more you can do with it.

So I am clear,

NVR that is POE will have multi ethernet ports on back with 1 by its self. The one by it self is your normal Lan port, that would be any local ip that isn't 10.1.1.xx then your POE ports are your cameras, only connect cameras to them ports. Then your wifi cameras like doorbell camera and ash26 floodlight that are wifi only would be setup in your normal network ip range and cameras on the nvr in cameras device page will show them cameras with different ip with port 37777 if by accident or meaning to for easier access to poe cameras you connect a pass around cable things can get messed up and cameras affected might need to be reset if you can't access with dahua ip camera tools.

Log into NVRs WebUI go to camera, device page and take a screen shot and post for best idea of what your working with.
Be Safe.
