help! I screwed it all up

Post by YodaVader »

Ohh, I got it! 😊
I have to manually re-enter the (non default) password for each camera after disconnecting and reconecting it.

I broke it all :(

I added the new, 6th camera (port6), and got it all set up.

Then I decided I wanted the new camera to be #2 so I swapped cables around and now the cameras on the 5 cables I messed with won't work anymore.

Port 1 - I didn't touch, it's still working.

I moved
Cable 6 to port 2
Cable 2 to port 3
Cable 3 to port 4
Cable 4 to port 5
Cable 5 to port 6

I tried rebooting, they still aren't coming online.

I switched all the cables back to where they were working before, no luck.

Well normally only a couple of things could be the issue. First I would turn off Plug and Play. I mean it is nice and all but can also be an issue at times.. Next normally the NVR will ask if you want to swap out camera that is already setup for another camera that is connected.. The IP scheme shows that it has been moved from 1 port to another seeing they are now above 128..

So I would first if you have not try to reboot the NVR. If all the cameras have the same password as the NVR then it might come back up. However 1 thing that can happen when Plug and Play is turned on that the NVR reverts back to admin admin for new connected camera and seeing the camera is new to the port it might have reverted..

So if you have already done a Reboot of the NVR then you will want to click on the Pencil and change the passwords to the correct one for the camera even if it is the same as your NVR will need to be entered. Best way to do mass changes is by going to the WebUI, Then click on Management, then in the Camera area click the Pencil for one of the cameras. Then in the Browser area bar type in the password then highlight it and CTRL X, then in the password box for the camera CTRL V in the new password and save. Then click the Pencil for the next camera and CTRL V into the password space save and so on until you have them all replaced.. That is fastest way. Or seeing you are on the WebUI typing the password is easier then trying to do it over the NVRs GUI Virtual Keyboard.. So if you don't want to paste in the passwords just type in the correct one for each of the cameras and all should be green again..
Be Safe.
