Does NVR4116e motion detection work with foscam camera?

Post by zhjliu »

I have a few foscam ip cameras like FI9900p and FI9831p. I am able to connect them to the NVR.
There is no problem with 24/7 recording. But I noticed the motion detection completely does not work.

I tried to record video only on motion detection, but none of the video is recorded.
I also configured to send email on motion detection, but I did not receive any email notification.
(Bt the way, I have to use microsoft email, gmail is not working).
I wonder if 3rd party motion detection is supported ? My impression is that motion detection should be done in image/video level, and it should not be related to the brand of the camera.
Is my NVR faulty or the NVR does not support motion detection for 3rd party camera at all?
Thanks,

There are some NVR and DVR systems out there that don't support 3rd party Motion detection because of type of system they are. While I am not saying that yours is one of them systems and Foscam shouldn't have an issue with relation to connection and recording... Also on most pages for NVR's they at times point out what cameras can work with the system... I didn't look yours up however I have seen a lot of systems from Amcrest and all the ones I have looked at said support Forcams. While I don't know the level of support...

Also I seen this was a double post and other post was removed

Can anyone confirm if Amcrest NVR 4116e supports motion detection for foscam camera like FI9900p and FI9831p. I can add Fi9900p into the NVR via onvif. But I have to add Fi9831p with General manufacture with rtsp streaming.

I can do 24/7 video recording without issue. But so far, motion detection is not working for any of them (I am pretty I have configured NVR in the right way it requests). I did follow the manual and some online youtube video to enable motion detection. Can someone please confirm that? Thanks a lot.

I will pass on your Message. i can't say there is an Answer seeing it was asked as far back as 2017 on Amazons website where they are sold and to date no one has given an answer other then it should work... However looking over the Site there is also a Warning that there is Onvif support.. "Supports all Amcrest WiFi and Wired IP cameras and limited compatibility with third-party brand ONVIF compliant IP cameras"

After talking to multiple amcrest technicians, one of them also did an hour long remote troubleshooting with the NVR. Finally, one technician said motion detection is not supported with foscam and all the other 3rd party cameras if they are configured via onvif.
I was told motion detection is only supported by amcrest ip camera which should be connected through "private" manufacture connection way....
