POE NVR and POE cameras.
Does it make any difference which channels I plug the cables into?
I like to plug them in so they come up in the order I like by default when I view them. I know I can move them in the software but I don't need to if I plug them into the right holes.
Currently I have my 4 cameras plugged into 1,2,4, and 5. I'm saving ch3 for a 5th camera I don't have a cable for yet. (The cable I already had turned out to be 3' too short)
Does it make any difference that I'm currently skipping a ch?
Do CH matter?

Re: Do CH matter?
No it don't matter.. In a NVR it isn't like when you setup your 960H *Have one myself*, In a DVR as I said in the other thread it will record in a DVR say if you have like your setup now with only 4 cameras on a 8ch system the others will fill time HDD with nothing but black screen unless it is disabled in the Schedule. In a NVR if there is no camera connected and you have all channels to record full time the channels without a camera don't show up in the list so no empty channels to record.. For some of my POE NVRs I don't use many of the POE ports at that location because of the older IP or Wifi cameras in use. So I setup the cameras on the highest numbers and work back, that way when i add in a POE camera I can just plug it in one of the Ports and set it up with ease. Down side to this method of install is remembering what channels you are working with on the GUI, In search it always starts with first 4 channels. No cameras the list will show Cam# so easy to just click all then all again then pick the ones you want to view playback of. But for some this might be a step they don't want to deal with and connect 1 up not required to be POE just because there is the PORT there..
Meaning my 4116E-HS, has only 8 ports. So channel 9-16 connect over normal Ethernet port. You can run all 16 over that ethernet port if you wanted to,
