connecting NVR to PC

Post by lagrabow »

Hardware -
NV4108 with 1TB HDD [HDD came installed in NVR]
4 - IP3M-943W cameras wifi
Asus All-In-One PC model ET2040I

I am trying to connect my NVR to my computer, which is an all in one computer. [looks like a big 19" tablet] and is connected to internet modem with a cat cable.
Following the info in the User Manual:
I connected the NVR to it with an HDMI cable and connected the NVR to my router with a Cat cable and then connected the NVR to a power source.
There are only three lights on the face of the NVR [ power, Net and HDD][There is no on/off switch]
The power light is lit bright blue.
The Net light is lit faint blue.
The HDD light is not lit.
I have rebooted my PC and the NVR.
I have checked under Device Manager, but see nothing there.
There are no NEW devices showing on 'This PC'.
I have not connected a camera [wifi] to the NVR yet.
Can someone advise me what I need to do to get it working?
Should I assume that the HDD in the NVR is connected?
Is there something Ineed to turn on in the BIOS?
I believe 'Network Discovery' is enabled.
Is there software that needs to be installed first?

Thank you.

To partly answer your question, I've looked at the spec of your AIO and the only HDMI port it has got is an HDMI out port so you should disconnect that lead as it is serving no purpose.

If you have connected the NVR to your LAN (i.e. ethernet cable to your router) then it should be 'discoverable' by Amcrest software, perhaps Amcrest IP config to get the IP address and then Amcrest Surveillance Pro to connect and display it. I'm not sure about this as I have an NVR of another make and my Amcrest cameras are standalone IP cameras. You might get further guidance from someone who knows for sure about this.
My AMCREST Cameras:-
2 x IP3M-941B firmware V2.620.00AC00.3.R, Build Date: 2019-12-18
1 x IP2M-841B firmware V2.420.AC00.18.R, Build Date: 2019-08-03

Unfortunately, you will not be able to connect this device to your computer in that manner. You will need to connect the device to your network via ethernet and use our software IPconfig, You will see your devices IP address where you can enter this information in Chrome or IE it will bring you to a login page.
