amdv960h16 attach ip8m issue

Post by nickdclinc »

i'm trying to attach an IP camera (ip8m-2496ew-v2). On the "IP Channel" screen, the camera is showing with an assigned IP address, but the Status column has "Invalid PWD". It shows as assigned to channel 17, but i dont see the output.

Any ideas?

Hello and Welcome to the Forum..

The DVR that you have is a 960H Pre HD system and the camera you are trying to connect is a 8mp AKA 4k Camera. Then DVR while it does offer IP channels you are going to be only able to connect 1080P cameras to the DVR's IP channels..

So you will want to log into the Cameras IP address and access the WebUI of the camera, Then at the top click on the Setup, then in camera area you will be in the first part Config. You want the next area called Video. In there it will show you under Resolution and change that to 1080P. Also I don't remember right now but I think that camera comes setup with H.265 setup by default as I don't remember when I setup mine if I had to change down to h.264..

You will want to setup your camera for h.264 and also 720p, 1.3mp (960) or 1080P

I will admit once was a nice DVR. With all the NVR's and DVR's that I have today with 4.0+ FW and even the 3.xx FW this 960H DVR is very hard to work with.. Geez it took so much to get things to work right lol.

So for me I had to make a new Admin account because my password don't work with the 960h system. I then changed my type to h.264 and also changed the Encoding down to 1080p. Once I did that Even after entering the password again it still said I wasn't connected. Then while I was trying to find a way to clear out all of the cameras and start over in the GUI of the DVR it came online and I was able to see it in the Grid View I had behind the menu.. So here is a picture of the 2496EW-V2 connected with settings.. you can see picture above the IP address that I was connected in and the picture bellow shows IP 72 is previewing..

Also thought I would add, I did add the camera while it was setup at 4k 8mp and after I changed the h.265 to h.264 and while it did connect and show a picture on the Grid what you will want to know is if you try to view the camera on a Full screen it will just be Black screen. once I changed the Encoding down to 1080P it was able to work in Grid and Full View mode. So keep that in mind of you happen to get the Password changed and right it will work in Grid View VGA mode because it is within the normal ability of the DVR.
