"NO DISK" error and Amcrest supplied AC adapter

Post by pangloss »

So I got a 'NO DISK' error after about 2 years of the system working (720p, 6cam), but rebooting intermittently. I buy a new HD (WD surveilance 2TB), I replace the HD and still get 'NO DISK'.

The system powers on, the video/OS comes up, so I didn't understand why the HD, nor the replacement I just bought was not powering on.

After a lot of testing, the AC adapter they ship you is trash, it doesn't put out what it's rated and it was the issue. I replaced it and the system is working again.

There were no exact threads like this, so I made an account and this thread. If you get a NO DISK error, check the AC adapter first before buying a HD, the thing can output enough power to boot, but not spin up the HD.

Hello and Welcome to the Forum

Sadly this is a Weakest link in all systems... After learning the hard way I now have 1 20amp PSU that powers my 6 recorders.... 2 of them require 5amps and 4 are 2amps each... I have them all on 16awg wires less then 4ft long... This is after a Pure Sine wave Backup unit on a Line Conditioned outlet...
Be Safe.
