Hi all,
I have a IP8M-2496EB-28MM. It has worked GREAT since day 1. Last week I did a factory reset on it, now it displays the 5mp feed in a perfect square, stretching the image. It works properly on the other resolutions.
It does this in the Amcrest apps, chrome, Firefox, vivaldi, brave and chromium. Both on windows and Linux Systems.
Yes, I have updated the firmware. That didn't fix it. I also did another factory reset, no dice. I am at a loss. Any suggestions?
Wrong aspect ratio, only at 5MP.
Re: Wrong aspect ratio, only at 5MP.
5mp normal ratio is square or 4:3 box i am not in front of my system right now. In IE there is option to change viewing ratio

Re: Wrong aspect ratio, only at 5MP.
Sadly looking over my 5mp cameras at the house they are Lite Version Hikvision and to be honest they don't even come close to the Chart I posted.. I have some other 5mp at my Cabin next time I am there I will check out their Ratio... My Lite cameras ratio was smaller then posted and looks like JUNK when taking a Snapshot from 5mp or 4mp and while I will admit there is a clear and larger picture in both 5mp and 4mp modes I wanted to double check so I changed it to 2mp and while the camera was in the right aspect format (Wide Screen) it didn't have as clear of a picture when run in other 2 modes.. Crazy thing is that in 5mp I only get 720 width and the true 1944 5mp height ..
So here is what I would do. Double check that your able to use your camera in IE, Some cameras that are Chrome enabled are IE disabled where I have some like my AI camera and my 2 16ch 4K nvr's are able to run in both IE and Chrome.. I would look and if able to run in IE, Load the WebUI, Then load the camera you want, make sure it is in the Main format and then take a snapshot, This will be the size of the Aspect not just what you see on screen.. Then in Windows 10 open the new snapshot in Photo program, right top click the 3 dots and choose file info..
It will give you the Size and and things like this...
Dimensions
1280 x 1944
That is the size of my laughable 5mp lite camera lol.. ON screen don't look to bad however in a snap shot it is a clear picture but very narrow and long picture...

Also just for all info, Looking at my Amcrest 4mp AI camera in 4mp mode
2699x1520 and 4mb in size with Quality set to 4.
Sadly at this time I don't have any Amcrest 5mp cameras and the others that I do own in IP format are not at my home for testing in IE..

Re: Wrong aspect ratio, only at 5MP.
The aspect ratio is obviously off just by looking at the pictures. My flower pots are short and wide

Re: Wrong aspect ratio, only at 5MP.
This being fed into a NVR or Software?
Is it being Fed into Amcrest or Non Amcrest?
Why I ask is because I have another 4mp Zoom camera that is Hikvision Ip that I installed in my Amcrest NVR and it has different format then my 4mp.. However Once I put it on my Hikvision DVR that Supports 6mp IP cameras it has better looking format however that is because they both are same.. Where the Amcrest NVR while it will capture the IP camera it changes the Ratio
So I am wondering if maybe what ever it is being fed into isn't able to use the size that it was setup for and gives you different size that it can encode?
I understand you have said you have tried in all other types of things but in the end it could be that it was connected to something that don't like the ratio as setup for Amcrest...
Here is what I would do. Does it work in IE? If no then sadly my only Option to try and cure this is to Remove the camera from anything that it was setup to run in (don't have to really if your Router isn't setup to give it the same IP after a Reset,) However if things stay the same after a REset I would do a Factory Reset Also if your able to I wouldn't do the one VIA software I would use the Cameras Reset button if it has one.... Once the Reset is done before going into any hardware just log into the Camera and look at the Default settings after it has been reset.
Outside of that I am not sure.. Are your photos Zoomed with digital zoom?

Re: Wrong aspect ratio, only at 5MP.
I zoomed in on the images after I screenshot, so the difference was easier to see.
The only thing I did not do yet is the on camera reset. I will do that after this storm passes.
