What needs to be open?

In the middle of setting up motion detection settings on 3 cameras. I load up the Amcrest Surveillance software and do all my configuring to each individual camera. Set the schedule and all that. Now, does that software need to stay up and running for the cameras to record or I can shut down the software and each camera will work independently of each other? The Surveillance Pro software pretty much has everything you need, but I did purchase Blue Iris for complete configuration control over everything and I have to keep that running.
