What if I change my internet service and router?
I'm planning to change my internet service and router, and was wondering how this will affect my security cameras and the trouble I have to go through to reconfigure them. I have the IP3M-956W. Can I get the new router information updated through the app or Windows program, or must I pull the camera down and do a whole new installation?
Re: What if I change my internet service and router?
Hello and welcome to the Forum.
Not all but most routers today are setup with the ability to change the SSID and Passwords... So to be Honest first thing I would do when I set up a new Router if that is what they will provide for your new service I would change the SSID and Password to be the same of what you have now so when you hook up other things in the old system they just re Sync to the new router that would be the easiest way.

And if I want to go with a new SSID and password, will that cause issues?
Re: What if I change my internet service and router?
I was just trying to give off the fast and easy way to make things work with little trouble...
So I am not sure if you have your old system setup and know what the new system is or will be with the Password.. For me would it be an issue NO.. That is because I use a Multi Level Network system. I take out the main Router from my ISP even if it is out for a few days my system will still work because I have other router and switches behind that one. So when I want to change a WIFI router I just go to my Camera, CLick on network, then wifi and then pick the one I want to change to, make password change on the system and it is up and running on that router.. However if there is no service and you don't have a Switch with your camera and computers setup with a Static IP then it would be hard to make changes
However I am guessing and only based my first answer that you were talking about your cameras being on the router was Wifi. If not Wifi then moving to another router unless it is setup with a different IP Intranet number scheme then that might be an issue. meaning if your Cameras are setup to Static and your Old Router is set to give out IP addresses starting at 192.168.1.2-254 and your new router gives out 192.168.0.2-254 then there could be an issue. Way to get around that is easier because you only need to goto the cameras setup before the router change and change camera from Static back to DHCP and then when you connect your new router the router will hand out the IP to the Camera...
