I have a IP8M-T2499EB the update was interrupted on.
Is there a fix? I've tried contacting Amcrest support with zero responses.
Is it possible to put the firmware file on an SD card and make the camera read the file and update automatically or anything like that?
Is my camera bricked? I cannot believe something this simple will brick one of these cameras. It's ridiculous.
The camera boots up, but won't pick up an IP from the router and it cannot be accessed via the onboard software.
Thanks in advance for any help.
Update interrupted - Is there a fix?
Re: Update interrupted - Is there a fix?
Hello and Welcome to the Forum..
Sorry to hear about your Update issue. I can assure you that it isn't only related to Amcrest devices.
How long have you owned the camera?
Did you buy it from Amcrest or a 3rd party?
One of the issues that things can have when it comes to FW or Software updates is lack of Memory Size or a Backup Stored in Memory. So when it comes to some very costly devices this is something that might be stored within the device and I know of some other very costly devices that don't offer a Recovery area.. One thing to remember about CCTV cameras is all the OS is stored within the camera storage space as there is no HDD to store the software on..
Issue with updates that fail one would most times need to have a Local area where someone can make a Direct connection to the camera and install software over a CODED connection. At least it isn't as bad as some of my Analog cameras that if needing FW update would require a Chip to be removed and special hardware and software to make a connection to the chip. Some of my other cameras now area setup with RS-232 for little easier updates but still would require special hardware and software to make an update.
If the camera is within a Replacement period you might be able to start a RMA for a replacement or if it was bought from someone that offers replacement time might be able to return for replacement.
Outside of Warranty time or Replacement time last resort would be to send into Amcrest and maybe someone within the R&D Department could flash the Camera with Starting FW and if there is an issue they might even be able to install the FW you were wanting to install however most times it would Flash with Last Known good FW outside the current Downloadable type offered...

@tripp
You might try this if you can't find camera.
https://support.amcrest.com/hc/en-us/ar ... ool-Issues
Or check this if it is really bricked.
