In DDNS, the email address is optional. Are you trying to set up an email address for motion alerts or are you trying to set up DDNS?

You can configure that in Settings > Network > Email.

If you are unsure of the SMTP settings for your email host, you can google "SMTP Settings for xxxxx" and just replace the xxxxx with your host (Yahoo, gmail, outlook, etc).

figured it out, I have correct smtp email info BUT the server will not allow amcrest device to send email through it??? Tried my gmail account and that was fine. Probably a security issue for win8.1 with current IE security will not open web access to cameras either, must use firefox or chrome?? My Norton security blocked and deleted the plugins until I allowed them

How are you able to setup email for gmail smtp server?? I tried numerous times and the test email constantly fails!!! My settings are spot on!!
smtp.gmail.com
port 465
username xxxxxx
password xxxxxx
sender <mygmail email>
encrypt SSL
receiver <myyahoo email>
Health Enable <checked>

Test email FAILED!!!!!

What the hell is going on???? :(

Hey there Daemon,

Can you try using the same email for the sender as well as the receiver? Also ensure you are using the full email address ([email protected] rather than just the username "testemail")

Also for your username, ensure it's the full email address ([email protected]) instead of a username (testemail).

I resolved the issue. Had to go into my gmail settings and allow application access for the Amcrest NVR which returned a generated password for the device's access to the gmail server account. Don't know if it is because I use 2 step verification for authentication to access services, but it worked nonetheless once I granted permission and plugged in the generated password for the Amcrest application. 8-)

Now I'm trying to tackle the issue I'm having with motion detection not working.....geeeesh!! Not having any luck!! I setup an FTP directory with the correct permissions for the NVR to access, and pretty sure I changed the settings within the NVR's software correctly. Waving my arms like an idiot at my HIKVision camera and not getting any alert messages on my screen nor any snapshots taken....it's like it doesn't exist. Do I have to enable motion detection within the camera?!?!?! I thought the way the NVR's software was coded to be able to read the realtime footage and detect the motion on its on....at least thats the way other NVR softwares have worked in the past. :?:
