Setting up recording on SD card

Post by jalve »

Could you please explain how to set up recording on the SD card that is in the camera? I haven't found this feature on Amcrest Surveillance Pro.
I recall from years ago that you had to login with a browser to the camera's IP address. However, now it's just telling me to install a browser plugin. I can download the plugin, but it does nothing when clicked. How do you install it?

I think recording on the SD card is a basic feature which should be easy to set up. What am I doing wrong?

Hello and Welcome to the Forum.

So there are a few things that can be done even without a Plugin and maybe setup recording might be one of them. Keep in mind that normally cameras with old FORMAT Firmware want to use IE, This can still be done using Edge in IE mode. Last I looked MS said they will support IE Tab until 2029.. Now some cameras I found that you can do anything in WebUI without the Plug in in Chrome or other non IE browser types and in this case the camera would be best used on a NVR or using ASP like you are but using your computer for storage by setting up PC-NVR. Like a few of my other brand IP cameras require something that is not support by MS anymore so no longer can access the WebUI even on Edge using IE format.. I am not sure of a Amcrest camera that has been blocked this way yet.

So when you are in ASP and you try to access the WebUI if that is how you are doing it, You can copy the URL for the connection and connect with Edge in IE format and see if that works. IF it don't then using local computer in Edge and Ie mode works. I still use IE mode even on most of the newer FW products because more features are in IE then in other browsers..

Then in you will need to go to setup, storage, schedule and make sure you have your recording setup going to the Micro SD and that you motion is enabled or however you want to setup your recording. Save/Apply that and it should be able to record. If access to playback is an issue after the fact, then I would maybe setup Blue Iris or PC-NVR for recording to PC and or setup your camera to use a FTP server for storage of events..
Be Safe.
