Remote Control on 720P HD-CVI

Post by iolblurr »

I set up my new unit last night and the setup menu came up and I was able to click through to the login. I tried to log in but cannot figure out how to put specific characters in with this small remote. Is it necessary to hook up a keyboard? If so, that kind of sucks.

That was issue #1. Issue #2 is that after trying a few times, the remote completely no longer works. I tried completely rebooting the DVR and replacing the batteries in the remote 3 times with brand new batteries. The remote does NOTHING. No response.

Have you guys seen this issue before with the remote not working? I tried powering the unit off and back on and nothing.

The included mouse is how I interact with the DVR, not the remote, actually have never even opened the remote.

Give the mouse a try, I replaced mine with one I had laying around as the one they sent is click wonky on the left click, clicks 3-4 times with each click. No biggie as I had one from an old PC laying around.

Hi iolblurr,

Sorry to hear about the remote issues, we could try replacing it for you. As linflas suggested, the majority of users utilize the mouse as the primary input device. I would also suggest using that if possible. Please do reach out to us at [email protected] so we can replace that remote for you.

The three digit code that the remote needs is the DVR's Device number. Go to Settings > System > General and under Device Name you should see Device Number. You can change this number to whatever you want apparently but remember whatever number it is and then exit back to the main screen that shows your cameras. Hit the "ADD" button on the remote and when the window comes up input whatever number was in the Device Number box. So say the device number for the DVR was 8. The 3 digit remote code will be 008. It's a shame I had to learn this on my own and could've saved so much trouble with them sending me all these remotes when the proper staff training would've saved all that. Come on Amcrest, get it together guys!

Well, support still doesn't know how to answer this question a few years later. Thanks, Maddux, that did the trick. I'm not sure why it doesn't come pre-programmed from the factory. I wonder how many RMA's they have because of this?
