Remote Access

Post by auburnrebel »

I'm hoping that I can obtain help through this forum on how to setup remote access for my camera system. I currently have the HDCVI 1080P 4 camera system. I could not connect through the UPnP as it is constantly searching and will not create a successful link through UPnP, so I had to setup up through port forwarding. I have setup the port forwarding on the camera system and through my router. The ports are open, visible and I have accounts setup with Quick DDNS and No-IP.org because the amcrestddns.com did not work; but still no avail when trying to view the cameras. Am I missing a step when trying to set these up? It is very frustrating as I have been trying to set this up for over a week now and nothing is working. I have gone as far as bringing in outside technical support to help and he was unable to get it to pull up either.
I also have purchased the 8 camera HDCVI 1080P that is still in the box that will be sent back if I cannot get a simple 4 camera system to work properly. I have downloaded the app and see the cameras through the Amcrest app, but if I can view the cameras on a computer it would make things much simpler.

Any help is greatly appreciated!

Hello auburnrebel ,

Have you set up port forwarding for the Http and TCp port of the DVR? Its important to forward these two ports. After sucesfully settings up DDNS, you should be able to access the device by the ddns domainame:httpport number from a remote location on your computer. An alternate way of doing this is by going to www.amcrestview.com. here you will have to input the serial number for the device, and the username and password. This does not require port forwarding.

Do you need to port forward UDP? In the original instructions it said to port for UDP as well.

I use NO-IP as well. I can access my cameras via a computer outside my network, but cannot access them through the app on my iPhone 6s.

Also, did you set static IPs on the cameras?

jordan this is how they did mine, go into setup then network then connection. mine is tcp-37777 , udp- 37778 , http- 37779 . then under ddns pick quickddns ,give your camera a name under domain name.then under my router the ports he forwarded was ( tcp or udp )37779 , (tcp) 37777 . under your amcrest view app use ip/domain/ddns setup. under device name put whaterver you want , front door , back door . then under address the name you gave camera under domain name plus address. example : dogcam.quickddns.com . then port number for your tcp port. then the password for your camera.

originally I was forwarding UDP as well, but I removed it and still no joy.

Thank you for the responses.

I have setup both HTTP and TCP ports on the DVR, still it is not working. I am going to try again this evening.
I am trying the alternate way now through amcrestview.com and it appears to take a considerable amount of time for it to come up. Is there a reason for this?

Is there a setting in each camera that needs to be setup or is this all done through the network settings?

Im having the same issue. I setup my iphone 5s for the ip/domain and I keep getting a "failed to connect" message as well. It works because I can access it through an IE browser off my wifi.

Hello,

Login to the camera web interface from a computer and go to Setup > Video and enable the substream and see if it works.

I can confirm that this was my issue....somehow my sub stream (or extra as it is called in the Amcrest View pro app) was disabled. As soon as I enabled them I was able to connect via P2P and DDNS.....I prefer the latter.
