LOL it is different times for different installed times. So mine was like 230am..

But I have changed that time to 2am now and just wondering why wouldn't you setup a Idle and Startup Preset.. Turning off the cameras auto reboot might not be a good idea if you use it with Micro SD card. Sometimes it can make a camera that has no reboot setup that stops working over time into a camera that just works and don't have to worry about feeling like will it capture what is needed when it happens?

All my cameras be it Static or PTZ camera they are all setup to reboot all starting at 12am and last one reboots by 5am.. Some reboot because of POE NVRs reboot at midnight. Others are setup to reboot at a time there is another camera in that area of interest still recording this way no loss of video of what is going on at the same time another camera is rebooting.

I'd tried that at one point but it didn't seem to fix the problem, and given the long turnaround time to test each config change since the problem only turned up after a day or so it was easier to just turn off the daily restart. Another reason to be unenthusiastic about daily reboots is that it was enabled on the NVR at one point and several times it didn't come back fully from the restart, while disabling it had no negative effects. It's also a lot less wear on the mechanical parts when the camera isn't doing a wash-and-rinse cycle every day.

Each as there own but with out having it setup, power outage or any other reason it might loose power it will start up in the wild. So what can you do? Well maybe setup a preset, then use NVR and a Static camera on an event on the static camera have nvr setup for your ptz to return to home. Issue with that could take you away from something your watching in real time. Only other thing is watch camera feeds 24/7 to make sure never ends up in wild. Good luck. I have never owned a PTZ that didn't have home position. Ones not built in return where it was after reboot. 841,941 and 1051 I use static cameras to keep them at preset1. Even most of them are good enough to return to area I want to monitor on their own.

The situation in this case is a bit special, power outages here are virtually unheard of, there's a solar ESS providing power on the remote chance one does occur, and it's not being used for security but as a backup check on wild animals in an area covered by PIR sensors.

This presumably triggers a PTZ restart which leaves it pointing off into the weeds. Disabling the 4am reboot leaves it pointed to where it should be.

So if anyone else is having this problem then, from the factory-default settings go to PTZ > Function > PowerUp and disable it, then go to System > Auto Maintain and disable Auto Reboot.

Oh, and if you're a burglar in a place with Amcrest PTZ cameras that haven't had this "feature" disabled then you've got about 5-10 seconds every 4am to get past the camera unobserved.
Funny. and

NICE DIAGNOSTICS!!!

On my IP2M-841w V3 there is no PTZ>Function>powerup I can find, but yes indeed the System>Auto reboot was on and set to 3:02

I have two 841's, I am going to disable one and leave the other on. See if the 'always on' gets wonky and needs a manual reboot after a time. There might be a good reason that auto reboot comes 'ON' as default. :?

Time will tell.

THANK YOU!!!

Happy to help!

In terms of the reboot, I think it's just a cautious default, these things should be able to run for extended time periods (months to years) without requiring a reboot, they're not Windows boxes. In fact for the NVR, which from memory also rebooted at 2am or similar, I turned the reboot off because sometimes it wouldn't restart in a usable state, and for the non-PTZ cameras I have they've been running for years without a restart.
