POE Camera Wiring Concealment

Hello,

I am considering purchasing a few cameras...likely a couple of outdoor bullet cameras (IP4M-1025EB or IP3M-954E) and an outdoor dome camera or two (IP4M-1028E or IP2M0848E).

I know these are POE cameras so can receive their power from a POE switch, which I already have.

In most of the pictures I've seen for these cameras, it looks like the cable coming out of the camera is a sort of dongle or y-cable that the ethernet or power cable could plug in to.

My question is: Does that "Y-Cable" detach from the camera, allowing a single ethernet cable with RJ45 cables to plug in, inside the camera?

If not, my concern is the concealment of the plugs at the camera. In my installation, I won't be going into the wall right behind the camera. My plan is to run CAT6 cabling from the camera, around the house under the eave/overhang, and into the garage. Cabling from all cameras will follow the same path and same entry hole into the garage to minimize penetrations into the house.

Wiring like this, will the "Y-Cable" just be hanging out of the camera in the elements? Or is there a way to conceal it inside the camera, with the only cable coming out being the ethernet cable?

The wiring cannot be concealed inside these cameras. You could try using the Junction boxes available on our website.

I ran across this issue mounting some Amcrest IP2M-842's outdoors. It solves the 1" hole issue and the large RJ45 Ethernet cable on the camera's pigtail. I posted technique and pictures on another forum at https://ipcamtalk.com/threads/bullet-ca ... ost-213961
