PC-NVR software

Post by bartsbigbrother »

Hello,

I am hoping to get an answer to my question here. I have the Amcrest Pro HD 1080P WiFi unit. IP2M-841B

I have gotten a lot of the great features working on this unit but am still a bit baffled by the PC-NVR software. I am running the camera over WiFi and able to view it from the PC based (Windows 10) Amcrest Surveillance Pro software. The PC is wire to my LAN and WiFi segregation is turned off on my router.

The issue I am having is that I have it setup to record all events to the SD card on the camera but also want to have it record to the LAN attached PC using the PC-NVR software. I was able to allocate HDD space in the software on the PC and set the schedule but for the life of me cannot figure out how to get it recording to the allocated space on the PC through the software. Is this possible, and if so is it possible for it to record to both the SD card and PC-NVR software\PC?

I really hope I can get an answer to this soon.

Thanks,

I'd like an answer to this, too. I can't seem to access footage that supposedly is being recorded on my allocated hard drive space. Also, when I use the "playback" feature on the surveillance pro software, I can't search for anything. It prompts me to "please select a channel" and I cannot find anywhere where I can select a channel to begin

Hello,
In the PC NVR settings, make sure you have added the camera Ip and the live view shows up. After allocating the space, also ensure that you set the schedule for motion detection and or regular recording. The drive will not show the files in it but you should be able to play them back through the 'Play back' option on the software.

Hi Melvin,
In PC NVR mode, the drive does not show the recording files. I'm wondering where they are stored.
Does the camera have built-in memory?
Thanks.

Hello h4ttrang,

The indoor Ip cameras supports Sd card but they do not come with one. PC NVR stores the recording to your PC. For this, you need to add the camera in PC NVR and allocate space in your hard drive under PC NVR and also set up the recording schedule. The location is hidden but you can find the videos under playback.

Hi Melvin,
Thanks for your answer. Yes, I am using PC NVR to record the video. However, I don't see the recording files being written onto the local hard drive. I can view the videos under Playback only when the camera is ONLINE.

If it is OFFLINE, the Playback does not allow me to search and view the videos. This is critical for security reason. Let say, the camera is knocked off by a bad guy and of course I want to review the footage. How should I go around this to view the videos?

Where are the videos stored in the PC? I don't see any reason the videos location is hidden. It should be visible and available to the camera owner.

Thanks.

Hi h4ttrang,

The files will be stored in a virtual space in your computer. They can be played back from the software and can be downloaded to the computer.

Hi there! I just made a mistake with my hdd while i was allocating space in pc-nvr.
I have allocated all the free space i got!. I have no space for running "normal" windows and also i am not able to see the volume/virtual or whatever that pc-nvr has created in order to delete it and get free space on disk.
I tried the windows restore option and didnot work either. I have win 8.1.
Could anyone be so kind to help me? I don't want to face my wife telling her that i will format the computer again. Yes, i did it on my wife' computer!

Hello poiocba,

You can go to the PC NVR settings and under allocated space there is a tab that says 'Free Space' This will erase the recordings and make the disk free. Then you can reallocate the amount of space you want.
