So I had 4 IP8M-2493EW's fall into my lap that I can add to my setup.
Problem is, all the locations they would go, I need them to be black.. not white.
So I'm wondering if anyone has had success in taking the cameras apart and painting the white outer casing to black (or any other color).
I'm curious of your experience.
Or even better, if someone has 4 of the IP8M-2493EB's they'd want to trade?
painting dome cameras
Re: painting dome cameras
LOL I wish I had 400+ in cameras fall in my Lap lol... Congrats on the fine tech...
So about painting.. There are some things to keep in mind Most of the cameras are Powder Coated and some are just base coat over White.. Like I have some cameras when you take the parts off you can see the white that was painted over black..
You will want to get some Sandpaper and sand the area to be painted to rough it up some so the paint has something to stick too.. You will need to make sure that it is good paint for the area to be used Heat and water repellent is good..
If you take it apart less likely to have issues with running paint on the glass however it can be removed without much trouble..
While this isn't your camera most of them are built the same.. In this picture notice the screws under the lid remove them and take out the glass to paint it well.. Plus in this camera you can see that the White was powder coated onto the system... Then on the bottom you will want to take out the gasket seal before you paint it.. Just don't make it to thick and to be honest I would do like I did my other camera and tape it off the seal is tight fight before paint and just be careful removing the gaskets because it isn't like we can buy replacement parts for these things... Trust me I have tried lol
There is a different camera I have that is indoor that comes with a White plain shell with the black logo shell sadly it don't give the white bottom so you have a Black bottom with White shell and black guts it just don't look right so I keep it black... Only set the White part over top to cover up Logo As I dislike the company but have tech from 2010 to 2016 of theirs wasn't until 2018 that I didn't like them anymore lol
