Hi,
I only purchased the camera today and have only tried using the app via WiFi so far, however sometimes it just doesn't connect. I can connect via the laptop but the app seems to have a mind of its own. Just wondering if anyone else has experienced this? Seems very hit and miss.
Thanks,
Matt
New User - iphone app doesn't always connect
Re: New User - iphone app doesn't always connect
biondi alot of people have had this problem ios or android ,this is what i had to do to get mine working and it works every time within seconds. you can only use cell coverage this way and no wi-fi on phone.Re: P2P "Failed to connect"

parkinNJ and others having this problem ,called tech. support when i got home and they set up port forwarding for me and so far it is working like it should but it always seemed to work decent when i'm at home. just when i got to to work which is about an hour away it would stop working.i'll let you know more tomorrow when me and the wife go out on our weekend shopping trips.if you do call and have them set up port forwarding make sure you have them stay on phone with you until you know for sure your cameras are working as the tech. was trying to tell me what to do after he did the port forwarding and i had him stay on phone thru the whole process. you'll have to delete your cameras off the p2p and add them in ip/domain/ddns setup with a differant ip address and port number.really hope this solves the problem been working on this for close to 3 weeks ! and also if you go this route when you connect, your wi-fi has to be off just cell signal.
UPDATE : everything worked fine until i rebooted modem, all the portforwarding info was saved but i can not connect with phone . can still connect with laptop with new ip address i was using just not the phone.back to the drawing board !
UPDATE: called support and talked with alex ,he redid the whole port forwarding again on my router but did it a totally differant way than the tech. did friday.he fixed them to work off the quickddns server.so far everthing works great even if my router reboots and changes ip address it will still work. he saved all the info on notepad on my computer for future referance and explained how i can get on any computer and type in the address and port number of each camera which i have 2. it took him about an hour and 15 mins. to do this . he walked me thru setting it up on my phone using the ip/domain/ddns setup.you can only use with cell coverage and not wi-fi which is fine by me. went out of town earlier and was able to view cameras with only 2 bars of 4glte in only a couple of seconds.i have to give credit to alex he was the only tech. person i talked to from support who really took the time to make sure everything worked and i understood how to connect with other computers. other people who are having problems might want to go this route ,if you call support maybe you'll get lucky and get a knowledgeable person as alex. hope this keeps working as i have been having this problem for about 3 weeks now . he said its better hooked up this ways as the p2p servers sometimes has problems ! boy ain't that right !

Re: New User - iphone app doesn't always connect
Hi jeffee,
I read your post a couple of times but don't understand, you mention port forwarding but you haven' provided any detail, there is no information within your post about what ports need to be forwarded. Also, why should this be necessary when viewing on the same network?
Also, why would this work initially and then not work?
I'm not going to waste much of my time with this, I bought it through Amazon so if it doesn't work as described I'm just sending it back.
Thanks,
Matt

Re: New User - iphone app doesn't always connect
biondi, i'm no expert on port forwarding thats why i had them do it, i have 2 cameras and he forwarded ports 37772 ( tcp). port 37775 (tcp or udp ).
port 37777 (tcp). and port 37779 ( tcp or udp) then he set up each camera on the quickddns server.works like a charm even with 1 or 2 bars 4glte. have not tried with 4g. don't understand how all this works but they have problems with the p2p servers and some how it caused cell coverage to stop working.hope this helps .give it a try and see if it works pretty sure tech. support is open right now.tell them you want it done thru the quickddns servers and not p2p

Re: New User - iphone app doesn't always connect
But why would you need to do that over your local network?
Re: New User - iphone app doesn't always connect
not sure ? can you connect not using wi-fi, cell coverage ? if you can't sounds like the problem the rest of us had. mine would connect sometimes with wi-fi and not at all with cell coverage. worked fine for first month and just quit as it did with others. might give support a call could be a totally differant problem.
Re: New User - iphone app doesn't always connect
No, as I said above - I have only tried via wifi before. I'm in the UK so certainly not calling a US support number, I've sent them a mail. I'll give them a couple of days to respond then will just send it back via Amazon. It's a shame as the camera is good but I can't supply this to my user-base if the software isn't reliable. How can it work for a few hours then just stop?
"Simple Reliable Secure" - that's what they say on their website, so far the first one is debatable and the second is rubbish.
Prove me wrong.

Re: New User - iphone app doesn't always connect
I had to go into camera settings under network and set wireless as default. then reboot camera. I was having same issue with iPhone not connecting to the app/camera.
It cleared up my app connection issues on WiFi and outside home/local network.

Thanks plasmaecto, will give this a go. Bit of a learning curve here, hardware looks good - hope I can get to grips with the software. I wish it worked better natively with Chrome though, although that may be down to Chrome rather than this product.

I have to use firefox with web view, chrome just refuses to work. I think its the plugins. Firefox works great for now. I do love the camera, just needs better software.biondi wrote:Thanks plasmaecto, will give this a go. Bit of a learning curve here, hardware looks good - hope I can get to grips with the software.
